some people in this world just have NO F'N idea

So a player has played 5 good games...does that mean he is better than someone has been there and done that and done it well??????????

Reminds me of last year when everyone was bagging the selection of Kimmorley...

Exactly ... when has Kimmorley EVER let Australia down ? Never.
When has Mini let Australia down ? Never.
When has O'Meley let Australia down ? Never.

Charlie is spot on, some people in this forum have no clue. Just because their precious little players dont get selected, they have a cry and hope NZ beat us. How pathetic and child-like. Waaaahhhh. Here's a tip, if you want NZ to win GO AND LIVE THERE. You wont be missed.

Watmough, Covell, Gallen , Wesser are the best players going round on form but dont get to play cause NRL are a joke

Covell

cmon mate, get your hand off it. I know he plays for your team and you should support him but putting him up for Origin is just ridiculous. he is in the NRL for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Goal Kicking.

You would have a whinge if your precious latte sipping pretty boys didn't get selected aswell, if their form warranted it, if they were in as good a form as some of the other players going around and they missed out you would have a fit, its no different to a raiders fan or a storm fan getting miffed about it.

He would have to employ idiots to help promote him

Get stuffed Lockyer and the australia ****cough cough**** selectors. Its an absolute joke. "hey, we are coming last, but so what?"... i wonder if they would have accepted that argument this time last year?
A bunch of absolute suckups.

I really hope NZ win. I really really really do! It will finally show that "rep" does NOT stand for "reputation".

So you think if a player has played 5 games well, he should be picked over players that have proven themselves time and time again, at the highest level??

This is the same reason Kiwis will never continualy win at any sport against Australia, The Australian Kangaroos like the Australian Cricket squad, should be select group of the best players in the competetion that have proven to be reliable and fit well as a group, to compete at the most elite level of the sport.

A player to gain a spot in that group, should and must first show that they can be better then the current player in that position for a period of time long enough for it not to be in doubt.

City vs Country is picked on form, not the Australian Rugby League Side

:sleeper: the difference with the aussie cricket team and the league team is about 50 games a year (tests and one dayers) they have a tight nit unit that virtually ONLY plays for Australia, and the occassional domestic game per year. Plus the majority of players who play cricket for Australia are on CA contracts, I don't think that applies in the NRL/ARL does it?

League teams should be picked on form, O'Meley, the best front-rower in the competition has played 1 game and is picked, not even Glenn McGrath got straight back into the Aussie team after his injury.

tell me this brother. When Andrew Johns puts a bomb up. Who would you rather at the back? someone like Wesser and that CAT luke lewis. Or the highly reliable Luke Covell and David Peachey

There are decent arguments both ways here, but look at it from Bennetts perspective: The team he had last year thrashed the lions with a 40 point onslaught in the first half and as such will know each others game to a resonable extent... if he were to pick on current form, he would be stuck with a week to get a whole bunch of players, who haven't played in the same team before, to gell within a week... It may not be the fairest to the form players of the moment, but it's very logically sound from a coaching perspective... and it's not like the players he's picked have been out of form (apart from shrek I guess).
