What's fat Greg got to do with the Cowboys??

The fact that neither came out and called for their mate Greg to receive a heavier than needed suspension for his charge on young. I wonder why...
Ray said this days after the incident.

So? He knew what happened and didnt have a whing even though he was the opne who was hurt

When a young player gets taken off with an injury that requires 16 screws and 3 metal plates, you got to expect some emotion afterwards.

Regardless are seriously trying to say that the JT and Tate's comments somehow influenced the MRC?

Emotion is one thing. Calling for the end to a players season and likely a teams finals chances is another. Whether it actually influenced the MRC decision or not is unknown to every one but the 3 members on that night however having senior players bleating in the media leaves them open to the accusation, which in respect to the "conspiracy" talks thrown about by Cowboys players and fans makes them hypocrites in the least

You see players gesturing at the Refs for a send off almost every game.

Hardly the same thing and you know it

Thats different and you know it. Like lying down and pretending to be hurt when you arent to gain a penalty..they are trying to gain an advantage on the field during the game. What did JT stand to gain by coming out and saying what he did?

Run me through the great gamut of players that have an opinion on another match they they aren't involved in?

How does something a player say make a fan look like a hypocrite???? What a bizarre thing to say.

Fair point but on the other hand you didnt see any Dragons players calling for GIs head either

It makes the players look like hypocrites in light of the theories that they and the fans go on about

Pretty simple

In relation to players your point makes sense, but to ascribe that to fans doesn't make sense.

I take it would then never make a comment ever on an act of foul play, for example??

For the record, I have always stated and always will that any "conspiracy" stuff is complete bullshit, and we as a club just need to aim up.

But I don't blindly support my own players regardless of any indiscretions, for example I thought Tariq Sims dog shot on Hodges last year deserved to be a send off.

after the latest "incident" in the finals series, JT didn't complain about the decision (IMO the refs made the correct call). Must be Paul Green having an influence up there. Clear that he learned a lot from Robbo

Unfortunately the media, especially the commentary 'tards for nein, whinged and whinged and whinged and whinged and whinged about it. at one point joey said something like "lui knocks on, but that's not a knock on" in an attempt to grasp at a conspiracy. Tallis went on the field and made a beeline for JT, attempting to provoke him into a rant. Then the keyboard warriors on here whinge and whinge and whinge and whinge about it too, despite the ball clearly going forward.

Tallis would have had to sprint out onto the field to get to Thurston that quick. Its was shameful.

No doubt Nine wanted him to blow up.

To his credit he didn't.

Way to keep up with the zeitgeist, NRL. I look forward to an ad campaign fronted by Bruno Mars or Katie Perry in 15 years time when no-one gives a f**k about them.

embarrassingly dated

there haven't been any songs in the intervening 20 years that might have fit the bill? Not for these grandads!

Gee I love the negativity about the decision to go with this song. One complaint seems to be it "does not appeal to the average league follower". Well gee, I thought it was designed to get more people to watch or go to a game, not the same people who go week in week out. I mean having stagnant or falling crowds/ratings won't hurt the game will it

The other complaint seems to be because it is a "old" song or "by some old fogey". Really? What a surprise they get a song by someone who is known across more than the youth generation of today. I mean what is the point if a song chosen (for example) only appeals to 15 year old head bangers but has no appeal to any other cross section of society? I would suggest that this song is appealing to an untapped market in league, and that is women.

Quite frankly the negativity is surprising, but what is funnier is the lack of viable alternatives anyone has thrown up.

This.

Im a fan on Alternative/Garage/Grunge rock as much as the next guy, but im smart enough to know it doesn't belong in a tv ad to sell rugby league.

making an ad with whatever death metal the 'average NRL fan' is supposedly in to is about the same as foxtel paying tonnes of money for an ad on Fox 1 for fox subscriptions.

slightly more effective on FTA.

So it took 18 pages before you could come up with that stuff which appeals to whom again? The current RL supporter and/or people who are "with it" in today's music scene. Gee they will get news fans in the gates now won't they :sarcasm:

At least though you suggested some alternatives. Props to you :)

That took about 2 mins to come up with
I purposely picked some old stuff because apparently the NRL are after 45 yr olds going by the current campaign.
