With our lack of depth or quality in the forwards I could see Jaiyden Hunt winning a spot in the 30. The commentators in the trial said Hook and others were very impressed with his high work rate and work ethic in training and I also noticed during the game that Sims seemed to be keeping a close eye on him and talking to him a fair bit and giving him a big pat on the back when he scored and after a couple of tackles - and also when he dropped a ball. He looks very likely to me, a fine 2nd row prospect or maybe prop. Can't wait to see him in CC.
I think our CC team will have a lot more success this year than our first grade side.
As for Moceidreke, he played well in the trial and was even a standout but you have to wonder why, at 26, he hasn't cemented a spot somewhere. The highlights reel was severely lacking in "highlights" to be honest.

I agree with the positive comments about Moceidreke. What was especially interesting to me was to hear him barking out instructions from behind the defensive lines. It made me think of a couple of things - during Mary's years, there always seemed to be a lack of direction on the field, whether in defence or attack. Yes, James Graham was always trying to lift the effort but otherwise leadership always seemed to be missing and I include Widdop and McInnes in this. Winning leads or chances to win tight games were regularly squandered.

Secondly does anyone know whether Moceidreke is just trialling for a CC contract or does he have one already? Or is he trialling for an NRL contract? Either way how long has he been training with the club? If a short time only, his confidence in giving direction was impressive.

It was really only a years worth of highlights to be fair, my main thing I liked was he appears to be able to play any position in the backline can kick, setup tries, has good hands and can even kick goals. He doesn't look express in these highlights but looked quick in the trials. He is by no means a superstar but could be very handy if we pick up a few injuries. He played at the raiders where he was behind players like Croker, Leilua, Wighton, Rapana and co and probably similar at most clubs he's been at I guess. To be fair I don't think JP or Rava would have broken into any of the sides he's played for either and in fact Rava did play for the Raiders and couldn't break in himself.

I'm not sure of his status - I thought Blocker said train and trial or something along those line ( I think he was referring to Moceidreke anyway ).
I was very impressed with his positional play at the back, was in the right place nearly every time. Got caught infield on one kick but I think he'd just made a tackle. Definitely a standout but hard to see him forcing his way into the top 17 with all the young talent coming through who I believe deserve a shot first.

Let's remember what age Cody Walker was when he broke through... Not comparing but suggesting that the age is not necessarily a guide
If anything it means they don’t quit when many would. A lot of luck is involved in an NRL career. Badly timed injuries or being stuck behind established players and having to move clubs to look for an opening all can very quickly make one wake up and realise they are 25-26. BB is in the same boat, no shame in being stuck behind Cook, McInnes.

In regards to Jaiyden Hunt, despite what the commentary was saying about him I was far from impressed. He blatantly dropped the ball, directly caused a Cronulla break with a horrid defensive effort and fell off tackles like he was playing drunk. That bloke shouldn’t be near first grade. The club needs to stop going down the road of signing players like this for the sake of it.

We must be talking about different players ?
