We can't keep running Schneider as an unused sub for the rest of the season, he needs some decent field time in either Cup or first grade.

I wonder if Kenny gets injured during a game will he use Schneider or put one of Sorro/Garner to DH. I would give Schneider some minutes there just to practice the scenario.

Henry much improved since his suspension, he looks much better then his first part of the year. Patea is such a talent tho and he doesnt make to many rookie mistakes, feels like Henry is more likely to get penalized. i think we should just find someone to give a rest, Yeo could use one again before the harder games to finish the year, maybe leota one week as well, come finals if they are all fit i would go patea but dont think ivan would.

We likely rest guys in and out of the team over the next few weeks.

The issue here is who is better suited to a short 10-15 stint off the bench.

Patea's metres per run numbers are above the whole pack, given that player may only get 5 runs a game. Then that is the sort of area you need

Run metres are not important. Patea’s aggressive runs through the middle of the field are a bonus.

Ideally we need players that can tackle effectively for long minutes.

We need Patea to get up to 50-60 minutes of strong defence in cup.

Until he can do that Henry is the better option. I think anyway

Only if we are wasting the 14 jersey.....which Ivan will.

Again, Schinder is defensively the best pick to cover hooker / halves. That’s not a waste.

We are a defensive juggernaut, that’s how we win premierships.

I understand some might find that boring, but it works.

If you wanna play on this team, you must be able to defend at our standard.

Now we are safe in the 8 it's a waste until finals. Especially if Ivan won't bench his son with a game won.

Nah I'd rather devote a spot on the bench to cover injuries than 4 forwards when you only have 8 interchanges.

It would just be ideal if that player could also regularly cover some minutes at hooker, but that's a next season issue, for now it's Schneider and there's no point arguing about it because it's decided.

He did on Saturday against the Tigers. Schneider played dummy half for the last 10 minutes. And it's not the first time

14. Garner
15. Henry
16. Patea
17. Papali'i

No reason not to run that bench.
Who covers an injury to 6, 7 or 9? That’s the way Ivan thinks.

With that bench if an outside back goes down then Garner comes in. Even if Dyl goes down you shift an outside back to 1 and plug the hole with Garner. If any other spine player drops with injury that bench doesn’t invoke much contingency.

There are numerous reasons not to run that bench. No halves cover or hooker cover the main ones.

Yeas i get that. You just have to have a 14 thats no real use unless theres an injury. If Schneider or Cole are 14 and subbing Kenny every game as a tactical decision then I'd be less against it.

We don't need it till September. Brad is better off actually playing football and that's only available in cup.
Now if Ivan is set on a 14 for cover and we all know he is then rotate Schneider and Cole each week

Mate, I hear you. Trust me. Having an insurance policy on the bench week in week out not seeing game time is frustrating. Until you need that insurance policy

It might not still happen, the issues were guys like Blaize needing time. Also we still haven't fielded our top 17 yet.

So it was worth throwing a $20 on just incase

I got on them when we beat the Eels to start our winning run.

Though in hindsight the Brisbane match was the best time to do it. That was a pressure match in front of a 50k crowd and we killed it. Absorbed all that pressure in defence early and scored 5 straight. Reminded me of the Sharks game at Cronulla last year just not quite as dominant.

I don't mind letting other teams take the favourites tag. But I think we are the clear contender.
