I can defo understand his point of view on all counts.
Interesting though how he says Foran owes nothing to the Warriors., it does make sence in a way.

"Playing with Foz on the weekend has really opened my eyes to what this club has missed over the years I've been playing," Johnson told Newstalk ZB's Tony Veitch.

"It's opened my eyes to we've really missed - another established halfback and another established voice that has that will to win, has that competitive nature, that can really drive and lift a side.

"And that's no disrespect to the halves that are coming through. But if you look at the sides that win comps, they've got a spine with halves that are really established."

This doesn't account for the fact that both Maloney and Townsend played with Johnson here prior to joining the Sharks and winning a Grand Final.

However, I think, it does signal an indication that Johnson may move on. He prefers to stay but only if the money is excessive.

thw warriors will pay what he wants
as much as rts is the "captain" of the club. Johnson is the face of league in NZ
Leagues version of Dan Carter

Well theres plenty of posters here that moan about Shaun so they wont be sad to see him go. I actually like Johnson in the team and criticise when its warranted by never have I wanted to see him leave. Hope he gives at least another till the end of next year.

The classic case of never knowing what you've got till it's gone.

However, he's a long way from leaving. In saying that though a player of his skill deserves to win a premiership. He's got 6-7 years left to achieve that.

If Lino and Hingano are our 'Witt and Rovelli', that is halves with less skill but in a side that consistently makes the finals, then I'd take that over our current situation.

It should not be this way though, we have Johnson, let's use him to the best of his ability, and ours. The clock's ticking.

Foran is easily the best 6 we've had in a Warriors jersey.

I enjoyed the no-bull interview. Not really concerned about him leaving though, I'm pretty confident that he'll stay.

On a side note, Lino keeps impressing in reserves. Looks Reynolds-ish (Adam, obviously) quite regularly. At some point he probably should be getting a serious shot at NRL (his kicking game alone should have him close) - just doesn't look like it will be here, unless we lose two of the others.

Every time I see Lino in reserve grade, he looks great and yet I just can't see him ever cracking it in first grade.

Lino would have to be next half in line if SJ or Foran go down.

Hingano to have an extended run in reserves and really get his confidence up for his next shot at FG

To be fair though Linos forwards in front of him have never lost a ruck. First grade forwards on the other hand though.....

Very good point, hahah. I like his kicking game enough regardless of go-forward though.

Surely Pat Sipley (and perhaps Vete) must be on the edge of a call up for Gubb and/or Sao...

After todays penalty athon from Sao and Gubb they both have to be in. Kearney has shown if u drop standards u get a rest (tui)

Absolutely refreshing and admirable the way Shaun talked there. The criticism of him in any circle this year - messers Daley and that f**king idiot on Radio Sport I won't do the duty of naming - is outrageous and wrong. Certainly hope we find a way to resign him, then get on with trying to turn this club from a basket case to somewhere he can actually try and find his best footy.

Why was Vete dropped anyway? Is it because he has signed elsewhere? I know he was off contract and linked with a move away but not sure what he did exactly to be dropped

Offloading the ball was my guess, lol.

Although to be fair, he's made a few whoopsies in reserve grade (while still looking good, from what I've seen).

Kearney doesn't have to worry about that offloading nonsense from Sipley though... they guy doesn't seem to do it at all - just hits the line hard... again, and again, and again.

Not a huge fan of the no offload, percentage play edict. Will work v teams who make errors/bottom 8 teams, can't see it beating good ones. We aren't a side who is strong enough and professional enough to win arm wrestles, as we were from 2007-2011.

Still love to see some second phase play with the likes of RTS, SJ sniffing around but not likely to see it, unless Ben decides it's his go.
