There was a lot of chat about it over the weekends games. There is a lot of turmoil and uncertainty at moment. Wood is very polarizing figure in the game, as is Beaumont who is leading the cheerleading.

Yeah, too much chat.

A schism seems to forming in English RL between two groups, both of which recognise the need for change, but which can't agree on which direction to take the sport in.

It's all very murky, and there's lots of scrambling going on, but there seems to be a group trying to revert to tradition by supporting Nigel Wood's reinstatement, and another group that's proposing an undisclosed, but supposedly more radical change. Shane Richardson and others comments suggest that the NRL are watching the situation very closely as well.

It's not just Brain Carney that's alluding to it either. Most people in the know are all talking around it without directly addressing it publicly, and a lot of sabre rattling is happening.

As always it's more likely than not that it'll eventually fizzle out and English RL will continue revelling in the miasma of it's own incompetence, but there's way too much smoke for there not to have been a fire there. There are definitely people not happy with the standard MO of sport in England and the direction it's heading in, and they're getting bolder and more outspoken. I can see why people are comparing it to the pre-Super League era as well, because it definitely has that feel about it.

Surprisingly it seems the anti NRL ownership has grown with the change of direction at the RFL.
Sort of, not really.

If the consensus on the internet is to be believed, so grab your grain of salt, the NRL are seriously sniffing around and the usual suspects at a few clubs are scared of the inevitable loss of influence and control they'll suffer if the NRL took over, so they're circling the wagons.

TBF, the control those vested interests have over the administration of the sport is one of the biggest things holding RL back in the UK, and any new owner would massively reduce their influence over the sport.

Wonder if it is until end of NRL contract? Hopefully not longer as want to see NRL and SL rights on same platform!
I wonder how much Sky sports pay for NRL rights and if it would be more lucrative for NRL to go into partnership with SL and provide NRL content on SL+ streaming service? Something they could build together.

Hull KR already sold out for Wigan game in two weeks time. Over 700 tickets also sold to watch the CC 1/4 final derby game at Craven St. Heady times indeed in the east of the City of Hull.

Both Hull clubs killing it for away fans this season.
HFC took over 1800 to Wakefield and HKR have sold over 2000 seats at Huddersfield for today. Lucky to see 200-300 travelling fans at Craven Park or MKM stadium most games.

Mixed bag of games this round with a couple of close battles and two of the heavyweights putting the bottom clubs to the sword. Leigh getting hammered again a big surprise and HFC cement a 2nd spot setting up next weeks CC 1/4 final derby nicely. Mikey Lewis put on a halfback masterclass against the Giants.

Was very impressed with Flanagan at the weekend in a well beaten side. He needs to put some muscle on and get defence sorted but with ball in hand he looked pretty special.

He did miss Mikey Lewis a few times but I haven’t seen him struggle defensively like that before so it may be down to him not used to playing up in the line as he normally plays fullback.
