Whoosh.
the point is why are we treating rl fans like soccer fans?
why have thousands of empty seats in the the stadium and refuse to sell them to Leigh fans?
what’s happened to the game here since I left? Is crowd trouble really such a big issue you can no longer have rl fans mixing with each other??

Segregation is in place, as it is at a number of games with large crowds. Crowd trouble is an issue in rugby league and does happen a fair amount, though nothing on the scale of football at its peak.

Im asking why? what I’ve seen crowd trouble is incredibly rare and usually down to a very few numpties. The game can Ill afford to be locking thousands of fans out of games ‘just in case ‘. I hope the nrl never gets this scared of shadows.

ps was at games in the 80’s when crowd trouble WAS a big issue and we didn’t feel the need for segregation back then as even though it did kick off it was rare. I miss swapping ends at halftime!

Not according to wigan, according to them it was their own safety officer. But again is it worth shutting out thousands of fans ‘just in case’? It’s very sad the soccer road RL clubs are taking.

again forget Derek, he’s a tool. The real issue is is there a need for segregated areas at rl games.

Yes, it is if that is the outcome that has been decided by those far smarter and informed than club owners.

One thing I’ve learnt about safety officers is their incredible risk aversion, sometimes to the point of stupidity.

why? I’ve stood alongside opposition rl fans all over the world and very very rarely seen any trouble.

I dont think it’s luck, I think it’s reality.
I’ve seen trouble, especially at hull derbies, but does it warrant creating soccer style segregation of fans? Not in my opinion.
I’ve very occasionally seen fighting at nrl games (esp souths v roosters). But they have no issues having fans sitting next to each other. Has England really gone so soft?

Lucky you. That wasn’t the case during the Wigan v Leigh playoff game last year. That’s one reason why it has been segregated.

It wasn't segregated for the round 1 1-0 match which was a sellout? Or is that just Derek fake news?

Leigh did everything right except take their chances. I

Wigan put in a Wigan like performance in the play-offs. Shame the week has been ruled by Derek’s drunken freak show but another decent contest between the two.

Could be weather is going to tighten it up and rovers like to play the long grind. Whoever masters this wind will go a long way to winning the game. CP is windy on a calm day so should be fun tonight where it’s forecast 40mph winds!

Saints haven’t laid a glove on KR for two years, I don’t, sadly, think tonight is going to be any different. As much as the try at Leeds was special, the performance for the 80 minutes by Saints wasn’t special and KR are on another level to Leeds, so I think they’ll be comfortable winners.
