SLE Independant Board

AT LAST! It seems that Super League Europe have listened to the fans. All 12 SL clubs have voted unanimously to appoint an Independant Board.

The move comes into effect before December 21st, 2001. It will mean that the SLE Board of Directors will have no interests (Finincial or otherwise) in any professional Rugby League club.

This was a proposal put forward by the London Broncos. Surprisingly, the current SLE chairman, Chris Caisley supported the idea.

At the meeting, the Super League clubs were also unanimous in their view that the Rugby Football League's Board of Directors should move to a similar independent structure as soon as possible.

I also believe that what the game needsis an umbrella organisation to run the game in the UK with the power and authority to tie the seperate bodies together, to move forward with one common goal. But this is good news, and a step in the right direction.
