We will never get close to them in crowds - but we don't need to. Their crowds are incredible on a global scale, mainly due to their cult like support in Melbourne. I can't see them ever cracking a 40K average though.

Having said that, if we get expansion right I expect we will surpass them in most other metrics over the next 10 years.
Besides streaming/TV numbers, what are the other metrics?
Participation?
Broadcast deal?
Social media engagement?
Club membership?
Total revenue?
The NRL has a lot of work to do for those last four.

Social media engagement? Not so sure on that one.

Calculate by ground capacity percentage and RL would be in front.
Nah turns out the fumblers do well there too

Ratings nrl already wins by 30 percent more viewers. With nz2 and png it will probably be double

Tv deal nrl could beat the afl tv deal with the next deal

Social media … nrl is already a long way in front

Total revenue … afl has received billions more in revenue over 20 years for little impact and the gap is closing. Nrl has been increasing non broadcast revenue and is probably the leader in Australia for doing this (who copied the nrl magic round ?)

Participation with png and nz juniors will be nrl

only on aggregated average viewers. And thats not now, nor has it ever been, the entire story.. But we've been here before.

With nz2 and png it will probably be double

And no one will ever know the truth of it.

Tv deal nrl could beat the afl tv deal with the next deal

Well the deal starts three years after the AFl one does, it pretty much should beat the AFLs between the late start, expansion, inflation and christ knows what else. But the fact is currently, and for the last 25 years, the AFL has beaten the NRL comfortably in this area.

Social media … nrl is already a long way in front

tis be true

Total revenue … afl has received billions more in revenue over 20 years

Just say it. The AFl has received a tonne more revenue dude.

for little impact and the gap is closing. Nrl has been increasing non broadcast revenue and is probably the leader in Australia for doing this (who copied the nrl magic round ?)

Probably not the leader in non broadcast revenue, whatever gains the NRL have made. But the NRL makes it hard to distinguish anything.

Things that work tend to get replicated elsewhere

Participation with png and nz juniors will be nrl

yeah but participation data is rubbish im told.

The next TV deal will bring it very close together.

NRL has higher social media following and engagement.

Club membership is a questionable metric with how different clubs measure this. It’s not as big of a focus in the NRL also.

Total revenue is getting closer as well.

Crowds is definitely one measure that AFL will always be far ahead.

No I mean actual juniors not make believe numbers like Auskick

I mean if we want to use Auskick type numbers then png will have over five million participants

The benefits of the nrl International expansion (nz2 png Vegas pacific cup Fiji Tonga Samoa) will be shown in the decades that follow. The game isn’t just focusing on Australia and Adelaide aside that’s the only big one missing

And I did say afl has been a revenue leader. Even that the nrl will surpass after one stage having half the revenue afl gets

Take property income that’s gone from zero to over ten million pa. And will end up over 100 million pa

The nrl will become less reliant on broadcast income

Nrl also wins on average ratings as well as aggregate. League has way more fans on tv than afl does and always has

If afl had to move games away from only time slots that maximise crowds like Friday 6 pm and Saturday and Sun 6 pm there crowd average would tank

5 million? Another figure plucked out of your ass. It must be a huge ass because you pluck a lot of crap out of it.
