Gower is a director of a company called JLB Developments, controlled by property developer James Bezzina who has failed to pay the Panthers $220,000 in sponsorship money.

One of Mr Bezzina's companies also owes thousands of dollars in sponsorship to the Cronulla Sharks, Fairfax newspapers report.

Cronulla chief Steve Rogers said his club was hopeful a restructured arrangement may see the club get some of its money.

Good luck, trying to get a cent out of them! Apparently JLB is in administration because it owes Grace Brothers heir James Grace, millions over a developments at Dee Why and Liverpool.

At least LG are paid up, you guys need every cent you can get, according to Rogers earlier this year. How's the multi million dollar development of the Sharkies car park going?

Wouldn't it be easier just to do what the Dragons did and get a $8m handout from the federal government????

No it just that you're not enough of an attractive proposition for governments or corporates to throw serious money at you. I still think you should look at the central coast option it's you only hope.

Call him a troll all we want, the fact is he is 100% right.

I cannot believe that comment from our club, we are being too nice, it's just ridiculous.

Bezzina, JAMES, not MICK, we must be careful to not blur the two together, JLB group is JAMES Bezzinas company, and they are in a fair amount of financial strife . There are a heap of SECURED creditors including NAB, St George, Comm Bank etc etc the list goes on and on. ALL of these companies will receive any money from an administration deal looooong before the sharks or panthers are even thought of i the deal.

Sharks will get nothing.

I find it unacceptable that our club has let it go this far. There has been severe doubt about JLB groups ability to pay their sponsorship since very early in the year, Jimbo and a few other forummers can confirm my information that the "cheque would bounce" in the first 1/4 of the season.

The question needs to be asked, if every other businessman in Sydney had knowledge about the liquidity of this company ( a search is easy to do and standard business practice, the club should have confirmed WHICH of James bezzinas companies he signed the contract with, as there are numerous shelf companies that he has, most of which will have $0 in the bank if you try and re-coup owed monies) why the hell did our club not have any idea ????

It only highlights the need for BUSINESS minded people who have worked in genuine private sector corporations to be employed in our club. That goes for the board to the people signing these fluffy sponsorship contracts with companies that know a sh*t load more about how to do business than the club does.

We are owed $180,000 from JLB group and as I said earlier, we can kiss that goodbye, our club fluffed its way to an "areegement" or "payment plan" with the company, however an administrator is going to stop that right away, anyway, the plan has not been honoured according to reports today, so why do we still have JLB group patches on our jerseys and why are their corporate areas still being used by the company ?? why throw more costs and expenses at a company that hasn't paid it's dues ?

They have basically recieved the lions share of their deal ie a good portion of the home games , TV coverage for the free to air games, etc etc yet not paid for it.

Their in financial strife JLB group but still appear far far too smart for our clubs staff to mix it with.

you are right black dot i know for a fact that he has lost all of his cars, he has been booted out of his offices above sea level and his property is on the market now for well over what it is worth, he has sold off numerous units that his company owned. i agree that the sharks organisation need people who will make the right decissions at the top not a bunch of local business men that dont know a hard decission of it bit them in the arse.

I don't want to get into a personal thing about Bezzina , the facts are front page news and that's all I've talked of here, I don't know about his offices, cars etc as you report and Im not really interested in things like that.

Im purely adressing this from a supporter of the sharks point of view, JLB group is in financial trouble and the repurcussions MUST be at least a $180K hole in our finances for this season that we budgeted to have. I agree with you on the point that the blame must come back to the club, like I said, many businessmen around sydney knew for a long time about the fragile state of JLB group, yet our club signed them up, provided services , advertising and entertainment and box packages worth a signifigant part of $220K, basically on credit, sponsors pay 3 or 4 installments a year, JLB group obsiously didnt pay many more than 1 installment yet our club let it ride, until now, it's front page f**king news and again the sharks club are at the bottom of the pile when the news breaks.

FFS it makes me angry, the clowns need replacing and a recruitment officer needs to get in there and get rid of the mail boys and girls , tea ladies and gents, towel boys and girls and assistant toilet tile cleaners who have "made their way up" through the joint over the past decade, and get some quality, QUALIFIED people with a bit of nouse and even just the tiniest bit of street smarts to run the joint.
