SmackDown! Vs. Raw 2008 - Demo out on XBOX Live

Just downloaded the demo - 1.2gb - going to take some getting use to the new controls, but overall it seems pretty good. The new fighting styles setup is very cool, I just played as Orton, and I had the choice to alter his moveset based on how I wanted to fight - Showman or Dirty.

Wrestlers - Taker, Orton, Lashley, Rey
Arenas - Raw, SmackDown!, ECW
Matches - One on One Normal, One on One Hardcore

Full game due out November 8th.

Anyone got this game?
My son has been playing the 2007 version at his mates place on a PS2 but I've been thinking of getting him the 2008 version on the 360 for Xmas.
Is there much difference between the 07 and 08 versions(other than the price)?

They have updated rosters and added some new controls, re-designed all the arenas and added some new moves but that's all there really is in the way of updates. If he loves the 2007 version he will probably love this one too.

Apparently the season/gm mode (24/7 mode as they call it now) is totally unplayable.

You get broken legs and it tells you to take a break yet you still have to play your matches, with your legs already injured and stuff.

From what ive read mostly, people seem to be dissapointed because it's been the same for years now, and theyve even gone backwards, 24/7 mode being the example.

I'm no TNA fan, but you guys should check out their TNA Impact! game on youtube, looks very nice.

Smackdown has just ran out of fresh and fun ideas, has gone downhill since Here Comes the Pain unfortunetly.

Doesnt sound like theres too much difference but my son has asked me 1 very important question.
Is the Undertaker a character in both games?(he loves him)
Dont know if theres a choice of characters myself but he tells me he has to be Edge on the 2007 version so I dont know if the Undertaker is in it or his mate just makes him be Edge.

Undertaker is in both, has a slightly different (newer) look in the 2008 version though but it's not much.

If he is right into it, then i used my older self as an example, the games didnt change mcuh but the small changes and the roster up-dates made the game essential to me, if you're son is anything like me, the small changes to dynamics of the game (controls, redesigned move sets etc etc) and the updated will be enough for him to crave the game

hell im not into wrestling that much anymore and im considering buying it, though im thinking Fifa 08 might win out in the head to head battle since ive been playing fifa alot more lately then SvR07

i traded jb hi fi - F1 Championship and resistance fall of man (i don't play them, it came with the ps3) for this game.

Season mode is crap so far.. in my night on raw im scheduled to face randy orton, as im on my way to the entrance way ( a cut scene) orton shakes my hand . wtf ?

Mate 24/7 is a playing mode - whereby you can either choose to manage RAW, SmackDown! or ECW, or you can play as a Superstar to reach Legend status.

On the game...I have it on PS2 and it sucks so bad. Disappointing - THQ were very, very lazy this time.

Believe it or not that is very handy for me to know.
Though I dont get to play the games that often the kids come to me as if I'm an expert on the games whether I've played them or not.
Truth is they'd give me an absolute hiding on them but they still expect me to be able to win and know everything about the game.
1st rule on Xmas Day will be to steer clear of the 24/7 mode on Smackdown V Raw.Lol.

the cut scenes are awful. here is a summary of every single cut scene in the game:

You walk down the hall, you shake hands with ur biggest rival, you keep walking, you see your 2nd biggest rival and he is shadow boxing, u pretend to spar with him then u hit knuckles or whatever it is thats called, then u see ur ally in the feud and hes doing situps and u walk past him then some other guy comes over helps him up and it looks like hes talking about you.

you walk down the hall and ur biggest rival tries to shake ur hand but u walk past him, then 2nd time u walk up to ur friend in the feud and you barr him off then another rival gets in ur way and u push him away.

vince mcmahon is having an interview and you try to talk to him but coach stops youand then vince walks away but then comes back and sorta says r u coming coach or whatever

you go into the diva locker room and they are all s**tty and sh*t and they have that look of "omg what r u doing in here, let me show you my snatch" then u keep walking so u can see some diva pulling her pants on and then she sees you and she waves her hand as if to tell you that you smell bad or something and then 2 divas whisper and giggle like schoolgirls and you apologize and leave but keep the smirk on ur face coz ur a douchebag

and thats seriously it, just that over and over again

* You walk down to the ring and get assaulted (bleeding and everything), only to start the match at 100%

* You get assaulted after the match

* Your opponent gets out of the ring andfakes coming back into it after a match

And other special ones like getting pummelled into a car, getting chaired by Piper, etc.

Lame effort imo.
