I think its brilliant for us, he won't be working for the Knights just yet but I'll bet he spends a lot of time watching the team and lower grades, he'll be able to work on the June 30 issue and really clear his head and be fresh ready for next year.

I think the media / clubs attitude / fans vitriol just got to him, who knows, Riddell and Smith turning up pissed to training my have been the clincher.

Why is Dave Fairleigh leaving? Has he received an offer to coach first grade? I wouldn't be surprised if he had.

Parra's Assistant coach next year

I am under the impression that though he has resigned he is still under contract to Parramatta and unless Parramatta agree he cant do squat until his contract runs out.

Legally he is still bound to them, all that him quitting means is that he forfeits any payment due to him.

Unless he was asked to resign or he'll be fired. If he was asked to resign he'll still be paid out and can work for other clubs.

Have you people taken a look at the ladder lately? Why are you so desperate to swap coaches? I think your just bored and want something new to happen.

Hagan hasn't exactly proven himself in the last 4 years. Sure he won a premiership, but that wasn't with his team.

Its good to get fresh new styles into teams, I think it enhances the players themselves.

Its like getting a new boss at work every once in while, freshens up everything, makes some changes that the old guy probably wouldn't do, and may even shake down some of the dead wood. Of course if your boss is totally fantastic it sucks, but I don't think Hagan is that kind of boss :)

Still on Crappamatta, early tip - Tahu will leave at the end of the year. He won't be keen to go back to the wing. Lyon's returning, and he and Hagan have some intimacy problems. I think you will see him at Manly next year.

I'm 99.9% sure that lyon will play 5"8 if he returns to the Eels. Tahu will keep his centre position.

I can't see the Eels having any grounds to stop Smith being involved with the club in an "unofficial" capacity. He will likely not be financially imbursed for his work so contract conditions shouldn't come into play.

Congratulations on your signing of Brian Smith guys.
Good luck, you'll need it.

We'll take our chances, took "supercoach" Jack Gibson to win you your first 4 premerships, what hope have you with Hagan?

Hahaha, thanks for that. I look forward to wiping that smirk off your face when we take him to a premiership.

The only ladder that really matters to me in terms of rating the 2 coaches is 2005:

1. Eels
15. Knights

Doesnt really need explaining.

smith is a great coach

hagan is a joke, and has taken us backwards since 2001

i dont care if we win the comp this year, it will be because of joey and not anything hagan has to do with it

smith is a key to the future, as opposed to the mistakes of the past

that is all

Thanks. Atleast our players won't turn up to training drunk. We're professionals, unlike your mob!

If the Eels are atrocious with Smith, i seriously wonder how awful you can possibly be with Hagan.

as mentioned im really into the idea of smith "lurking around the sheds" for the remained of the season. Putting his nose in it so to say. Get familiar with the players, start building a basis for new recruitment, resignings, juniors etc etc. I think its a double edged sword this resignation and the reasons behind it. Of course he wouldnt have if he were under contract for next season at P.Eels...he obviously saw the benefit of a rest and fresh start early at the knights....
