I would prefer to keep De Gois than Sau, as long as De Gois could play more than three games straight.

What about Boyd at centre, Gidley fullback and De Gois hooker.

Gidley gives De Gois a rest and Boyd goes to fullback. A bit of a waste having Boyd at centre but I'm sure he would go great and it makes for a good rotation. Just a thought.

Cos Boyd is a much better fullback imo.

Gids could make a good centre. Solid defensively, can draw and pass, decent running game. But also it gets him out of the way, means we can keep degoise and means we can fully utilise Boyd. All this and we are still making sure all our best players are on the field.

Personally i think Gids to centre is the best move, i just dont think it will happen.

For mine the dead weight looks like this: (disregarding contract situations)

Rogers
Tolar
Kaufusi
Karawana
Ciraldo
McDonnell
Mika
Lulia
Southern

The following are not dead weight but they might be somewhat redundant depending on signings and finances etc:

Wes
Degois
Kev
Sau

Doogs will retire.....surely

Pato needs to get moving, he will improve under Bennet, however if playing for yourself/your teammates, your city, your current coach and/or your fans is not enough then he doesnt deserve to play for Bennett (or the knights) regardless of future improvement. With that said hopefully the injury was to blame and we will see him have a real dig.

We will need depth as there will be many rep players, however we should draw on youngens like pete/tets/KOD/cook/roberts etc etc on min wage rather than the plethora of nuffies.

I personally think that Gidley is potentially a much superior hooker than De Gois. Under WB I think Gidley could potentially become the best hooker in NSW (I would say Australia but Cam Smith is gun). Just putting it out there.

Because he is really fit?

I'm not saying he would be bad there at all, he could be excellent. Gidley would make us great yards out of hooker but the best hookers running around are clever, something Gids is not. His passing and kicking isn't as good as the best hookers either and his decision making wouldn't be close.

I agree.

His decision making is also not up to scratch.

Just because you have a a lazy marker and get gain an extra 5m does not mean you have made the right decision when your halfback has called a play because numbers a short on a blind side and Aku is all but away.

Its not just about being great out of dummy half, its about knowing when to be great out of dummy half.

It would bring tremendous lulz if you were to ever see the blokes listed above in a run on NRL team at the same time. Namely:

1. McDonnell
2.
3. Lulia
4.
5.
6. Rogers
7.
8. Tolar
9. Karawana
10. Kaufusi
11. Ciraldo
12. Mika
13. Southern

We'd get smashed from pillar to post!

i would say that last year he was NSW's best hooker.

its definately a lose/lose/win situation -
a) keep degois -cons= probly no boyd, no swansong last year premiership winning season for bedsy.
b) lose degois -cons= degois is gun
c) 1.boyd 4.gidley 9.degois 14. bedsy -pros= aku breaks the tryscoring record for a season scoring 52 tries, bedsy swansong year, premiership winners -cons= under investigation from the police for the murders of missing nrl salary cap auditors

I think the delays with DeGois's contract are directly influenced by Boyd's decision.

If Boyd comes, Issac is gone.
If Boyd doesn't, Issac signs the next day.

Bedsy is a club champion no doubt, but he isn’t in the form he once was. Has anybody been watching his form? His been down in the UK from what I have seen and reports.

My point is if signing Bedsy for 1 year would stop signing IKE for 3 then why? Apart from the fact he could coach the juniors.

i think like every else is saying if boyd comes de gois goes, with gids playing hooker i think it could definatly work if gidley knew he was playing hooker week in week out n given a whole preseason with bennett, 2012 he would definatly be the blues hooker IMO

I think some people are getting overexcited at the idea of Buderus, a club legend, coming back here to win a premiership in a swansong... besides the fact that this suggests that a premiership is practically guaranteed, his return would be no doubt at the expense of a younger player who could otherwise give us stability in one of the most important positions (hooker) for many years to come... personally, I think it'd be absolutely nuts if your hypothetical became a reality, but each to their own.

I can't even be bothered getting into the Gidley at hooker discussion either, haha.

.

Agree. With Bennett here for 4 years we want him coaching mostly players he can develop over that period (whether positional wise or talent/skill wise).
Bedsy is a sentimental favourite and it would be good to see him with the club at some level for that reason but not as a #1 Hooker to form part of the backbone for years to come. I think we need to leave sentiments behind unless Bedsy can be Hooked up as part of the coaching or mentoring staff.
Shame we can't have a few players who have other paid positions but can train with the team and fill in from time to time. Might be room for Bedsy and Doogs in that case. Now if we had a "reserves" team then ..... Those days of a once top grade players still punting along in lower grades are thankfully gone.
