Roopy, I've never really encountered this so-called class system. Maybe that's because I grew up in an area which is steeped in non-conformist chriastianity, ie, Baptists and Methodists. Up in Yorkshire and Lancashirethereis less of the pretentiousness that might be found elsewhere, especially in the midlands and south. The northern English differ from those in thesouthern counties and not just by accent.In the northa certain bluntness, but also more friendly attitude is the norm.
