Softest half of Origin I've ever seen.

so boring that I feel asleep in the 2nd half, or maybe it Gus Gould reminding us that the scores would be level with 20 to go that put me to sleep.

I think whole sale changes do need to be made, but mainly to our attack. Kimmory long kicking game was great, but our attack inside the opposition 20 was c**p. Lyon, King, and Cooper need to go. Hayne and Stewart were exeptional. Anaster horrid, Kimmory was alright. I'd go: (call my backline bias or not, who else is there.)

Stewart
Hayne
Benny
Tahu (if not fit, Collis)
Grothe
Mullen
Kimmory
OMealy
Buderous
Bailey
Hindmarsh
Mason
Hoffman

Farah/Piggy (someone to add some spark)
Kite
Bird
White

Now i know the backline contains 4 parramatta players, but i struggle to think of other outside backs. Lyon, King and Cooper have played horrid in the first two games. Cooper may well stay, he hasn't been anywhere near as abd as the other two. Collis would also be in with a run, is jennings a NSW player... i'd have him in.
Farah or piggy need to be on the bench to add some spark, and kite would be better severed off the bench IMO. Bailey and OMealy are props that can set the tone. But our forwards were not the problem, it was our back... Our forwards did dominate, and defened well, just there was no fluency in the backs.

nsw tactics to win the game seemed to be to run at lockyer all night

someone should have belted him, and cause lockyer/qld's to lose focus

i fear with the same coach and a similar side, we will get absolutely flogged in game 3

I wouldn't pick Tahu he won't be around next year this series is over pick a team for the future.
Piggy would be great off the bench, I forgot him. He is passionate.

I believe you are correct.
With those tactics, we will get f**king hammered.

Since the series is dead fair enough, i guess there would be no point picking him. Hayne into the centres would be an option. It would mean he would see more ball.

Hindy went ok but I think he'll probably be dropped, thanks to murray.

Both he and Kite should have had more game time, I thought kite went ok for the time he had. He'll probably make way for O'Meley though.

King to the centres and Guru or Best to the wing

I might get shot down for this and even though he had a solid game last night, Buderus has to go. Just witnessing what Cameron Smith did to us all game with crisp, quick dummy half service. We missed that badly. Buderus isn't the player he used to be.

TBH I was at the game and it was really exciting, not as many points as I'd like. But still a good game.

Once upon a time if I watched an origin match and NSW played like that I would have put my foot through the TV. Origin just hasnt got the same appeal to me as it used to. Even though his form isnt fantastic but the blues could have used the strong dummy half running of Grothe. Give me a Parra game anyday.

1. When was the last time the Blues scored a second half point???
2. SOO has become boring - and has been for several years. It is only the hype that keeps it going - not the quality of the footy.
3. We never, ever looked like scoring. Seriously, there wasn't a single time I was up on my feet
4. Cooper and Lyon are useless. I can't believe Lyon got a rails run into the side - he is not back to his previous form yet.
5. Bailey is a liability at that level. He always seems to lose possesion at crucial times - this time it was a stupid penalty. I would be going for someone like Todd Payten or O'meley.
6. Andrew Ryan - great player at club level - but way out of his depth at SOO. His game is not suited to that type of footy.
7. Why are our selectors from another era?? McCarthy, Gerard Fulton????? Get some new blood in there - like Fittler for example. McCarthy showed with his comments during the week he is of another era.
8. Blues had zero creativity. Zero. Not even an inside pass. wtf? (Well they did once to Simpson and he nearly scored !!)
9. Cameron Smith and Thurston are the difference between the teams. Take them out - we win 3 nil - even with the side we have !!

Agree with everything you have said.

It was a very ordinary performance, and yes Strider, we lacked passion.
Besides one bone cruncher from Hindmarsh, was there another BIG HIT in the game??
Nope.
That tells me a lot.

Thing is with Jamie Lyon, what has he actually done to get selected in the side in the first place?

I also think the quality of the match last night ties in with what others have been saying about the standard of play this season.

Oh and Something else I forgot ...

Jarryd was outstanding last night - even with his limited opportunites. Can you beleive it was only his second origin?

And to take that deep kick in his fingertips - knowing the mistake he made in the first game showed confidence beyond belief....

Kimmorley might as well have been playing with 1 leg... without an active 5/8 to assist him to get the backline moving on the opposite side, he was hamstrung with what he could do. In saying that though, I only seeing Noddy take the line on a handful of times in the entire game.

My question is:

How the hell can a So-called Representative Side FORGET HOW TO MARK-UP at DUMMY HALF????

In the first half alone, there were 14 runs from Dummy half through a non-existent Marker area, then on 3 occasions there was only 1 Marker and twice the markers should have been penalised for not being square.

My main issue with this, is the fact that there was simply NO EXCUSE for these stats. Both Sides were laying on the tackled player for much longer than is usually permitted and in most cases the Blues players were up before the ball carrier.. It seemed to be a ploy whereby one of the players was told to scoot back to the first hole behind the play the ball . I was really surprised that even Hindy was guilty of this. He is by far one of the better players in the marker area and even he didn't seem to be talking and was seen running away from the marker zone before the play the ball. So I question the tactics (if any)

King: LIABILITY. 2 Games and exactly the same plays used to draw him away from the sideline. This bloke simply cannot play as part of compressed defence. He is not agile enough for the quick scoot required for transition to sliding defence. In his defence, I will ask whey the hell Lyon kept moving infield to defend.. it is his job to call the gaps inside him.

Anasta: As everyone else has asked... DID HE PLAY??? Now we can see why the Roosters are performing so well this year.. The Little Train who Could - Anasta isn't!!! On the Paul Cariage rating system I'd give him 2.5 Cariages out of 10

Couldn't be bothered reviewing Cooper, Simpson & Bailey they were simply sh*te.

My side for the next one...

1. Stewart
2. Hayne
3. King
4. Lyon
5. Guru Jnr
6. Gower
7. Kimmorley (will retain it but I'd like to see Orford here)
13. Ryan
11. Hindmarsh
12. Woolnough
10. O'Meley
9. Buderus
8. Mason

The tables has certianly tuned over the past few years. I was worried about how we would go from 2006 but we seem to be in good hands with Smith, Lockyer, Thurston and Hunt at the helm.

Most times we had no trouble getting it out of our red zone giving us decent field position. There just hasn't been that pressure in defence as has been the case in recent years....I used to be beside myself in Origins where we could not work ourselevs into decent field position becuase of the sting in the Blues defence...hasn't been there this year.

Kimmorleys kick/chase was good but he couldn't organise those blokes one iota. Anasta just useless.
