on the one hand its sad to see him go, at the bulldogs home games whenever his name came up on the big screen, the cheer went around from the faithful, on the other hand though i think we will be better off without him, we obviously won't be using the money to sign someone for next season (who is left to sign?), but for the season after that we should be sweet.
The game of rugby league won't stop just because SBW left, i just found it extremely hypocritical that he was bagging out Mason at the start of the year, when in my opinion Williams just proved to me and i assume the other dogs fans that he is much worse.
Yeah I can understand the blunt irony.
SBW was whinging a few weeks ago about all the attention and pressure etc. He wasnt handling the "cult of personality" thing too well.
I can understand that.
But no doubt, a lot of his supporters and kids who admired him feel let down. Theres no compensation for that.
'Emotional trauma and disspointment caused by loss of marquee" I cant see that being pleaded in a court summons as a head of damage.
Of course, the club's sponsers wont be happy about the loss of a marquee.
I dont how many sponsers signed on on the basis of SBW being in the side.
A lot of players have personal game day sponsers, SBW's is entitled to feel jipped.
The sad thing is that the club has bought some good players for 2009 and is in a building phase. It was all systems go for 2009. This is a real clip over the ear for them.
Its a fundamentally strong club ( even during an in-house fight), this isnt fatal just especially unwelcome after their planning a side around him and the players they let go to keep him etc. Thats all flushed away overnight. Thats several thousand hours work overall I'd say. Maybe recoverable in court, interesting legal question but ...Im not sure.
