Gutted. Terrible news for family, friends, team and fans alike. As others have said there's very little chance he'll be found alive- Bethells is a pretty isolated and exposed beach which is well known for heavy surf and treacherous conditions. Here's hoping for a miracle anyway.

Im with everyone else on here , I hope he is found safe.
Its been a long time since something tragic like this has happened in rugby league circles , unfortunately it happens to often in normal day living.

Last similar incident I can remember was when All Black loose forward Aaron Hopa died in a diving accident off the Coromandel in 1998. This kinda think is a big wake-up call though, especially when you're someone who spends a fair bit of time doing similar activities, you're reminded how easily it could happen to you.

Just watched fox news where they talked to the 3 news reporter in NZ.

Sounds like his little brother was struggling, he went out to help and got hammered by a wave.

Warriors have got their own helicopter looking but the search appears to have been called off due to conditions.

As one lifeguard put it. "We're just waiting for the sea to return what it took".

My stomach churned at that quote.
