lol Manly. I am sorry but Tony Willams is a massive disappointment - a dud. He has size but nothing else.

I am stuffed if I can see how he offers the side more than Grothe. Williams may potentially cost us as many tries as Eric did.

See ya Tony - don't let the door hit your arse on the way out pal.

I still wouldnt mind having him on board next year, but he clearly isnt a winger IMO.

i would have liked to keep him as well, i think he is more a work in progress. Would have made a better bench back row than Weller at this stage!

will be interesting to see him under a different, more intense coaching system .... i wouldn't write him off yet

but yeah - had Eric Grothe thrown that pass he did for the tigers try just before halftime, there would have been 20 "I hate eric" threads on here in a flash

you're a very brave man fp to make that call now...

I've seen players of the calaber of Dave Williams, Jack Afamasaga, Michael Robertson, Mark Bryant and Josh Perry who, at worst, have turned into solid first graders through their system thanks to their coaching staff and training system at Narrabeen.

the kid needs a decent coach and i for one won't be ruling out the fact that he'll be a much better player by March next year.

geez you blokes are harsh.

Cannot remember a young guy who read the defence great in his first season.

He can tackle just does not know where to be yet.

Perhaps he won't be a winger but either way far too early to tell.

so do those of you that reckon Williams is going to be some sort of gun backrower really think that he is going to have the work ethic or hunger to make 30-40 tackles a match when required?

I agree with our thread starter wholeheartedly -seeing nothing from Williams that makes me think that the Eels hierarchy made the wrong call here. I'm happy to admit that I was wrong in going bananas a few months back when the decision to let Williams go was made.

I don't think he'll be a high work rate player. I do think he'll be a great player running on the fringes much like Menzies did early in his career. Going to a club who boast players like Watmough, Kite, Perry and Glenn Stewart he won't need to make a lot of tackles.

we got plenty of forwards that can make 30 - 40 tackles a match, wat we dont have are guys that can really bend the line

he's definitely a line bender, but light on in the defence department

That's a big call champ. I completely agree with Stagger. Give him a coach who can develop his off load skills in the backrow and watch the Kidd turn into a great player

If Hasler can get him on the angry pills he might go OK. I worry about his workrate though.

I think players either have high workrates - or they don't. He is certainly not playing in his best position but if his work rate on the wing is low - how will he go in the pigs?

I can't see what role he will play. He would have to be an impact, low number of minutes type - so on that basis I can't see how he is worth the money they paid.

You Guys are really Harsh.

F#ck Manly.

Tony williams is a great player. Put him in the Centres jst like TT and will see what happens.

Tony williams Loves this Club. Believe me. But when your told by the Club you love your not wanted how would you feel....

The Kid is still waiting for Parramatta to give him a Offer.

He agreed to terms with Manly because they offered him $150,000.00 a season.

Tony Has said had Parramatta offered him $100 K he would had signed.

How quickly the wheel turns. Not so long ago there were several posts blasting the club for letting him go.
He's not a dud, but for me I already consider him a Manly player and just don't care.

actually, Hages said on the forum night that the kid is actually getting 200K..;-)

Seriously? FMD Manly have deep pockets. Where are the NRL salary cap auditors?

All that aside, Manly have paid SERIOUS overs if that is true.
