Rugby league player Zane Musgrove has been convicted and fined for property damage after pulling a gate off its hinges following an argument with his girlfriend.
Downing Centre magistrate Megan Greenwood said the South Sydney forward's behaviour during an incident on July 8 this year had "all the hallmarks of domestic violence offending, other than the actual physical violence towards the victim".
When Musgrove arrived and went into the courtyard of the property, Ms Meise's friend yelled at him to leave.
He asked his girlfriend to come with him but she refused.
On his way out, Musgrove pulled the gate to the property with such force that it snapped off its hinges.
Ms Greenwood said that, as soon as Ms Heise told him she didn't want to go, "You should have turned on your heel and left.
"Your girlfriend did not do what you wanted to her to do … and that's what made you angry," she said.
The court heard he apologised to Ms Heise's friend the next day and offered to pay for the gate.
Musgrove pleaded guilty on Wednesday. He was ordered to pay $500 compensation for the gate.
