If I was Linwood, I'd tell them to renovate the club/ground and make South Island Keas sign a 2% naming rights income on all merchandise that will go on to support Linwood and its juniors.

Yeah given Linwood is actually in Christchurch I’d just be angling to make the club an official part of the bid and giving them some funding.

And even if it did there's a difference between Keas and Kea which is probably a big enough difference.

Nah there really isn’t. It’s the same thing.

David Moffett oversaw NRL at one of it's lowest ebbs. The thought of his involvement in the NRL again fills me with horror. Like handling matches to an arsonist.

Good luck opening a burger place called McDonald rather than Mcdonalds!

I thought it was decided on here that Kea was the plural, how come they are called Keas?
I suspect amateur Rugby League clubs marketing and promotion budget is not enough to undertake the market research needed to understand the correct grammar for their regions indigenous language.

They did start using it over 110 years ago so I guess times may have changed in language usage, at the least they wouldnt have had google back then!

Im sure if push comes to shove a 100K and some ongoing club link ups will get the issue resolved!

I was more referencing going to games on cold Friday nights than the actual going out partying aspect.
I’ve been to plenty of cold wet n windy winter games in Wellington and your right it’s not the best, would the new stadium being indoors likely negate this mostly?
In saying that ive been in a pretty frigid Foresyth Barr game but at least it’s sheltered from the elements

I didn't come across them in England but I wasn't there as long as nz. Only found them to be common and advertised around Dunedin.
But thanks for the history class.
I’ve only heard them called that in London and also never heard the team Quart used but might be a regional thing and Dunedin having a big Scot influence

Or the club is old when proper use of Te Reo was a bit of an afterthought and was just anglicised in the plural sense
