Bennett effect.

To be honest I think some of the criticism they’ve been copping has been a tad premature. It’s only round 2 and they’ve had 2 pretty hard games. Manly/Seibold sides notoriously start well and then they had Brisbane who were always going to hit back after how poor they played in Vegas. Probably need to gage where they’re at mid season.

Feels like alot of the criticisms teams are copping are premature, that includes the dropping of all these halves after two games.

It's round 2, there's along way in the season to go.

As for dropping halves so quickly, feels like it says that everything we did in the pre season was a waste, let's try again.

In Ilias' case he was already on a knife edge. From all reports Ilias and Hawkins were doing just as many reps as each other at 7 in the off-season, but Ilias got the gig through incumbency.

Most Souths supporters were willing to give Ilias an extended run, but his lack of any major improvement means he now needs an extended gig in reserves (that he has never had in his career due to COVID).

In the case of the Knights, Hastings missed the majority of pre-season recovering from surgery and Gamble/Cogger did the majority of pre-season together. Hastings still got the initial start out of loyalty but his body’s clearly not right and hurting the team.

I agree with your general sentiment though. The one thing in Souths favour (can throw Knights in there too) is that at least the problems have been highlighted from the get go and they’re trying to fix it early. Whether they can will be another matter but can only go up from here I guess.

This is quite a read on the culture at Souths, and while you should always take what a disaffected former player says with a grain of salt, it marries up with some of the other things we've heard about JD as a coach.

The part about Mansour finding out he wasn't going to be re-signed when the club played a farewell video for the departing players is absolutely brutal.

Almost as funny as putting it up on a projector!

What's obviously is rabbits are not bonded as a team. Coaching staff
4 Win's from last 15 games
Last year leading the comp
Then missing top 8
It's injuries
Attitude
Coaching staff ?

And dropping a state of Origin hooker dummy half. More issues now

They wont solve anything long-term until they stop blaming everyone else for there own problems and look in the mirror and see they "DO" have a few problems and fix them.

With Souths its always someone else's fault and they love playing the victim card with a chip on there shoulder.

Until that changes they ain't going to be successful long term.

I'm more inclined to believe Mansour, here. Seems like a coaching issue. The results on the field suggest that.

JD might be the first gone in 24

Souffs problem is Demetriou.

He is clearly at the stage in his coaching career where he is very nervous that his normal methods aren't working and has started throwing shit at the wall hoping something sticks. I call it the "Hook special".
