Jack Thompson narrates it. It's both anti Crowe & PhaC as well pro Crowe. Good doco even for non Soufs fans.

Living in Maroubra when they were re admitted, can still remember the hype around it all...I remember an old local at the seals talkin to me always about Souths when they were out, how much he missed em etc etc... then when theyd been re instated whenever Id see him Id ask, "Gunna see Souths this weekend Dave?"

I remember that the Maroubra Junction Hotel jumped off the "Keep 16" bandwagon quick-smart and raised the Tri-Colours over the pub until Souths came back in...

George Piggins had his sports store in Maroubra Mall too.

I wasn't a huge patron of the MBH either. It was something I noticed more whilst in transit on Maroubra Rd...

I thought it was pretty interesting.

The comedic highlight was the 'No' campaigner's completely serious comment - 'I don't want to compare George to Jesus, but....'

GOLD.

Good doco - makes for some interesting viewing over the next few weeks.

Goes to show how difficult it is to influence the norms held by the old Souths brigade led by Piggins. In face of overwhelming evidence, and a long history of failure, they still stick to their guns. That's not loyalty. Its pure and simple denial and pig-headedness.

If you don't change and adapt to the changing environment around you - you'll die in the past.

They may not be perfect - but Maximus and Pete HaC are the best things to happen to Souths in a long time. They now have a fighting chance of long term success - and that is ultimately the goal.

Agree totally. How one person could be so revered by so many for doing such a bad job for so long is beyond me. Souths deserved to be kicked out. Only now are they starting to show enough to suggest that they deserve to stay in.

Great doco btw.

You'd be surprised, some players can be revered and adored to the extent it causes blindness, loss of reasoning and paranoia....one such idolised WT player last week had attack stats of six metres from one run over 80 minutes....yet fools still cannot admit thats poor.

Anyone know if it can be downloaded anywhere? I had a quick look on Souths site and couldn't find it. I forgot all about it and it sounds like it makes for interesting viewing.

I just do not believe anything Crowe says.
PHaC seems quite noble and honest in his intentions.
Crowe didn't win an Oscar for nothing.
He just seems like he's in it for some other reason.
Its like he's always 'on'. Like he's acting the whole time.
It doesn't sit well. Not that he would give a flying f**k.

All in all, it will be interesting to see how it unfolds.

The one thing that stood with me from last night's first episode is that Mark Courtney was, is, and always will be a bloody legend. If that bloke doesn't opitimise the true South Sydney supporter than I don't know who does.

Agree with you 100%

Thought it was a great start to the series. Its great how the ABC's editorial policy doesnt allow influences from either party to influence the doco.

Watched it with my girlfriend who has only been following league and the bunnies for a few years, now she realises why they have been in the sh*t for so long.

Best 30 mins of football related television I've seen this season! (although that Warriors-Roosters game was pretty good!).

The saddest part of the first episode was that all the 'No' vote seemed to peddle to the voters was that a 'Yes' vote meant giving up 100 years of tradition and all their premierships as well as 'giving up control of our team - the people's team'.

Well forgive me if I'm wrong but Souths still have 20 premierships and 100 years of tradition as well as being a heavily supported team by the 'punters' - only now they have the resources to actually deliver on and off the field.

The $3 million dollars angle also seemed a bit warped given I'm not entirely sure how much money the people got from the club when they owned it before hand... If those same shareholders had been getting money funnelled from the previous management as owners of the club then maybe yes $3M wasn't enough - but before the club was sold I don't recall Souths ever having made money during a season so that the people who owned it came out on top... granted I don't know all the facts but the way information gets distorted in campaigns like this is pathetic.

I'm taping this whole series - and for the record I am all for privatisation in this form - what I am against is some Thailand ex-president investing his dodgy money into say the Knights and having no say in the club yet copping all the flak if they went poorly under his ownership.

Make no mistake - Crowe and HaC are putting a lot on the line here and deserve ALL the praise and criticism they get given THEY are having a say along with Shane Richardson and Jason Taylor in getting this club back on track.

^^ Excellent post. There is no reason Private Ownership can't work in Sydney, so long as, as you say, it is done correctly and the owners are actually people with a hands on role to any extent.

Those who voted no must look at how much progress Souths have made this season and wonder what on earth they were thinking voting against the plan.
