Southern Hemisphere vs Northern Hemisphere

 yup , average 43.6, 14 centuries, SR of 70 - he's one of the worst  not to mention over 200 wickets...

http://content-nz.cricinfo.com/rsavind/engine/match/249211.html

have a look at how bad he is in this very recent game ... he scores 119 and the next highest score is 41... you're right, he's awful  ... Luckily the rest of the world doesn't play on the ridiculous pitches Aust seems to be preparing, and the rest of the world is happy to acknowledge a great cricketer when they see one

seriously,

He's record might be good, but in a team of superstars he is not what the side needs - (refer to what happened in the ICC world XI series).

He bats in a bubble and refuses to score runs quickly regardless of the situation the team is in. He might have made a solid 100 the other day anchoring a side struggling for form with the bat, but with a group of in form superstars like Ponting and Hussey, he would do nothing but frustrate the sh*t out of the spectators and the rest of the batting line up (refer to the world XI series again to jog your memory), similar to what simon Katich has been doing for the past year.

As for the bowling - that isn't even a factor. It might have been 4 or 5 years ago but I think I could throw down better deliveries than he does these days.

Absolute pie chucker recently

As we all are of yours

those of us outside Australia understand that there is more to batting outside of standing out of your crease and hitting through the line... the sort of tripe your disgraceful pitches encourage at the moment.

I'd back Kallis or Dravid on a wicket doing plenty (or even some) over any of the current Aust batsmen - including Ponting who 'only' averages 50 out of Australia and clearly has his average inflated by these wickets that would make you and I look like decent players (hell they're making Paul Collingwood and Ian Bell look bloody good)

Obviously you missed Pontings 150 at trent Bridge last year with the ball swinging and seaming at right angles.

If you'd take Dravid and Kallis over Ponting in any ODI match, you obvious have even less idea about cricket than I thought

Pontings 150 was at Old Trafford. Also JJ didnt say he'd take Kallis or Dravid over Punter in an ODI...he merely suggested that they are more reliable on pitches that do a bit. Not that i want to back up JJ because he knows he can be abit of a dick sometimes!:D

But in a team of superstars with high SR's i believe that Kallis can be the perfect foil. He'd be the perfect man to come in and resurrect an innings when batting first on in a run chase. And if you are chasing 300+ then you could always drop him down the order. Besides, a SR of 70 isnt exactly slow.

Southern Hemisphere: ODI's

Gilchrist
Gibbs
Ponting
Kallis
Symonds
Clarke
Hussey
Pollock
Vettori
Lee
Bond

He said he would if the pitch was doing a bit.

My point was that Kallis is not adaptable enough for One day cricket to fit into a side of superstars.

Anyone who saw the world XI series and the subsequent test match and ODI series Aus V SA would know what Im talking about

In a world XI, not at this stage. At the end of their careers they will be among the first ones picked.

No Bond Timbo I am surprised, I thought you were a fan of his.

I am. But I think Lee is better as an ODI bowler, and I can't pick them both in the same team.

If it were a test side, I'd have Bond but not Lee.

lol. You will say anything to get a reaction. You know what, if you lived a more quality life, you wouldn't need to lower yourself to those levels. Think about it kid.

I view them both as strike bowlers.

Pollock and McGrath are more useful in an ODI side-They're both miserly and can be used at the death.

An edge from Lee or Bond goes for 4. It's too risky playing them both in the same side IMO. And when Pollock and McGrath pick themselves, there's only room for one.

  9. Brett Lee (Australia)

  11. Makhaya Ntini (South Africa)
I quite like the side you have picked. Would change one thing for certain, Ponting is nothing special as a captain. Flemming is easily the best captain going at the moment. Ponting is one hell of a batter and fielder, but is a nuffie captain.

much as I like Styris - pretty funny having him ahead of Hussey, Kallis, or Clarke.

Equally funny having Shane Watson ahead of either Jake Oram or Shaun Pollock.

Flem is captain if he's in the team - I'd have him open, drop Smith and bring in Kallis at #4

Why is Stephen Fleming an automatic selection in everyone's side?

The bloke can play, but seriously an average of just above 30 at a SR of around 70 ....

I would have:

Gilchrist (Aus)
Smith (RSA)
Ponting (Aus) (c)
Kallis (RSA)
Hussey (Aus)
Clarke (Aus)
Symonds (Aus)
Pollock (RSA)
Bond (NZ)
Vettori (NZ)
McGrath (Aus)

12th Lee (Aus)

Fleming shouldn't really be an automatic seletion - but his captaincy is a huge advantage over Smith or Ponting.
