I don't care what anyone says about our opposition today, I rate them very highly and still do. These blokes we played today stretched the Roosters to the death, beat the Tigers and smashed the sharks. They have a well balanced squad with some very skillful individuals.
We beat them and beat them quite well even though the score didn't reflect what actually happened, however they did get all the 50/50 calls!! so I for one won't be devaluing [if there's such a word] our win because some bloke reckons Souths should go back to the drawing board.
First off allow me to say that I do actually rate the Rabbitohs. They have determination and players like both the MacDougall brothers and Fletcher are very good. And personally I think Harrison is great as well.
However, the flaw in your argument (IMHO) goes as follows:
* V Roosters - yes, they took the Roosters to the limit. However, the Roosters were not their usual selves that game. Of course they won and of course everyone has a bad day; however I think the poor form of the Roosters mixed the decent form of the Rabbitohs may have painted a different picture
* V Tigers - whilst this game was a good game of footy, it was tarnished by a very questionable instance during which South Sydney were no doubt handed the momentum in the closing stages of the clash which - surely, inevitably - lead them to victory. Had they beaten the Tigers without this incident rearing its head, the issue would not be so great.
* V Cronulla - next to the Warriors, the Sharks this season are very difficult to watch; they are both either in woeful form or just suffering mild lapses of form. Either way, Cronulla has not looked all too convincing in ay match they have played this year and are not seeming very good thus far.
Whilst taking away nothing from the Rabbitohs, they have not yet (until today and after round 1) faced quality opposition week in and week out. Granted, our team seems to struggle as much as the next. However, playing bruisng and fast paced matches in four consecutive weeks against quality top 8 teams is a different kettle of fish than playing teams like the Tigers and Cronulla who, quite frankly, have struggled this season.
And I must say I agree - all the 50/50 calls apparently went to Souths. I was far from impressed with the referee's display, though I have seen worse.
