Souths buying policy could destroy this season

we lost the game because both of our wingers did not take their respective high balls which lead to two tries. not to mention the other balls they both dropped in our own half. I do not count the last try as that was desperation passing.
aside from those missed high balls our defense overall was OK considering the injuries in the first half and depletion of our bench.

Of course if Luke had landed the conversion and made it 30 -28 , we would not have gone for field goal , but that is how the game goes. Unfortunately reminds of last years couple of games that we let go in the last 5 minutes. We need to grind out the close games!!!!!

Not biting the bullet and splitting up Sutton and Sandow is our biggest mistake. We should have bought an experienced half or 5/8.

The fact is they are both experienced. Sutton has played 133 first grade games. While Sandow has played 61.

So experience is not the problem.

Both players need to lift their games if Souths are to do well this season.

I was trying to be polite. But if you want..... experienced and knowledgeable.

Lots of people are coming up with reasons why we lost that game and I think I could agree with just about all of them in one way or another. It's far from panic stations yet, a long season has just begun. Remember, the roosters are coming off a GF appearance and playing with confidence.

GI obviously needs to see more ball and I'd be happy for him to see it early in the tackle count when the opposition's line is tight. Interesting that Bellamy came out and said fullback is his best position. Also, I'm a little worried about Tulz, he didn't look too interested in competing for the cross field kick and he was asleep one of the few times GI got the ball and tried to put something on. Maybe some young blood is needed on the wing and it would put some of the others on notice.

Hats off to the roosters for sticking in there. Other than the final result it was an amazing start to the season. Just watched the doggies win and they will be another good test.

Lastly, we need a defensive coach and i think Bellamy would be a great fit given we lack structure in defense and attack.

I think guys like Price, Webcke, and Petero dispell the myth that a prop can't do anything over 30.

and you have at least 3 or 4 blokes for every price, webke & petro who can't play past 30..

No depth, dud coach. For whatever Inglis cost you could have kept Champion and bought a solid young front rower (or two?).

Yeah? Where would they have bought them from?

Quality young front-rowers are like quality young half-backs. Virtually mythical creatures.

Clubs that have them don't let them go.

You make more linebreaks and score more tries than anyone and you think the problem is your halves?

Defence is your team's first and last problem.

Back-rowers too cumbersome in defence, coupled with a generally poor defensive attitude throughout the club, mean you lose games you should've already won and tight losses turn into floggings.

Souths' attack is fine; including your halves. Sandow's a f**khead, as anyone will tell you, but he's quality. Sutton goes alright too.

Sorry to say but today has proven me correct. Didn't think I would be saying this after just two games.

I know Ben Ross has played just two NRL games after a long time out. But did anyone notice him on the field today. I know he played because I saw him run on the field. But that was the last time I saw or heard of him.

Luke Stuart is 34 going on 50. Puts in the effort, but the effort is not like it was in the past.

Asotasi has one of his better games of the past four seasons. But thats not saying a lot. Run for 115 metres and made 27 tackles. But unlike 2007 and before that he scares no one today.

Well here we are after just 5 games and we have lost two of our top four rated props, most likely for the season.

Doesn't leave us with a whole lot of backup now does it?

We have Asotasi, who in the past couple of weeks has shown some improved form. We also have Ben Ross, who doesn't scare anyone.

Last night we used Crocker, who used to be a good backrower and McPherson who has never been anything other then an average backrower as props. And you want to know why we did nothing last night after our top 2 were replaced. Well its quite possible now that one of these two will have to step up and be starter.
