Mate the Props in those days are smaller than most outside backs now. Once again comparing eras is impossible. I would take the modern day player over the old days though. Players train a lot more these days so don’t need Fulltime work outside of Footy.

I said given all the advantages---the props were smaller because they weren't in the gym 5 days a week & on diets designed to make them bigger & stronger---Artie BEETSON could/would run only 20 or 30 metres himself but he was skilful enough to create 500 ms for his team-mates---much,much more skilful ball-players back then---a classy off-load these days is a rarity--a bash,barge,boring,banal game these days--the game has been bastardised so much over time that it is now a total embarrassment !!

If Churchill was a full-time pro today---with the equal opportunities that today's players get ,he would be a much better FB , 1/2 or 5/8 than any of today's posers, including Cleary !! Churchill has been voted the best over & over again & with very,very good reason !!

Mate when NotSoSuperLeague came along and we were shamefully excluded I went from someone who watched every minute of every game of footy every week to totally turning my back on the game altogether. I know I'm not the only one and the powers that be quickly realised what a monumental stuffup it was trying to kill us off. They tried to kill us off altogether and failed, and you know the famous saying from Nietzsche "What doesn't kill you , makes you stronger"
