Good. Cusack as a footballer is great for Souths but as a captain - hopeless.

agreed .. bring on Shane Walker :D or Luke Stuart if he was fit ..

as for David Kidwell, an excellent buy imo, yes we may have some older players now but its gonna be worth it in the long run because they can show the young guns the ropes and help build us back to a strong competitive side .. a side which, unfortunately for me, i have never laid eyes on in my lifetime :p

It shouldn't.

He has served the Melbourne Storm club well. :D
Let him get the reward that he absolutely deserves.

He will be great value to the Bunnies as his leadership skills will be invalueable to them and will excell given a premanent leadership role.

And that's why it upsets Dani. Because he is going.

FFS Get rid of the 30/6 deadline.

Kidwell is not a terrible signing, but I still don't understand their recruitment policy ...

Surely throwing 150 to 200k at 10 or 15 of the brightest 17-23 yo players in the league and only keeping the best of what they have atm is a better way to go

The following is an example only, i have no idea the contract situation of the following players : -

From my club (Broncs) ... throw 150k at Fraser Anderson, and 200k at Dave Taylor ... how can the Broncs match this ? and off the top of my head, same sorta deal for Flannigan and McDon(nell?) from the Tigers ... I like the look of Beau Scott from the Sharks, and the Dragons always have a forward or two they couldn't pay this sorta money for

One or two gun younger players from a heap of clubs, add Sutton, Champion and ummm well i'd sack the rest, but they must have a few more young players that show promise

Rusty's Retirement Village is thriving

Oink !

Bunnies are getting a few older players to help develop all the younger players. I think this strategy will give them a good return in a couple of years. Good luck to them.

This is exactly right. We have plenty of tallent coming through with the likes of Sutton, Champion, Gordon, McPherson, Manoukafoa and others. A few years ago the Cowboys bought players like Norton, Campion, Rauhihi to bolster their ranks. At the same time they had plenty of tallent coming through with the likes of Bowen, Williams, Tronc.

Look what a guy like Ben Kennedy has done for Manly. It isn't just his influence on the field, but also off the field that really helps the youngsters.

Sure, but the bunnies are spending so much on the pensioners that they`re going to turn around in a couple of years to discover that all their promising juiors have all just bought new houses in Bondi Junction.

Begs the question...all these big bucks signings ???...Rusty has obviously not heard of a salary cap ???.

How can you take all of the points off Souths for breaches of the cap next year if they have not got any points ???.:?

Remember that most of the youngsters he been signed for a few years. By that time there will be more money freed up.

Given their current roster, and the fact that they'll be losing the McDougall brothers who would be very highly paid I doubt adding David Peachey and David Kidwell and a couple of other high profile recruits to it will tip them to over the cap even if they have to pay overs...

I believe we are just on $3m for this years cap (could be less with Elford going back to the Tigers). Given the cap is going up to $4m that is $1m extra to play with straight away. The MacDougalls leaving along with Minichiello will free up plenty of cash also.
