Souths to relocate to Gosford

The only reason we play games on the CC is to make a profit while we are not winning heaps of games and the crowds are lower. Its called smart business sense.

Don't you know that any team that plays out of the Central Coast until the year 2019 must be called the Central Coast Bears. Noone can relocate their unless they want to sell out their entire club and tradition. We will never do that. EVER.

souths will die as that whole Redfern area has changed and they have no home ground!
They have had plenty of chances and even next year they will struggle.
If they dont move to Gosford, their future will be dead!
That area now has no family growth in population in Redfern, so their growth can only happen in Gosord!
You old fans can argue till the cows come home- you will never be a serious top eight team until your home ground and region is improved -Redfern is dead!

Fair comments. However yesterdays news about Souths Leagues and Souths Juniors combining is a breathe of fresh air. If managed right and Richardson seems to be heading in the right direction, within 5 years could be a very successful club again.

Richardson is good but this time he cannot solve a dead region that has increased house prices and little family and popul. growth!

He has done wonders at the Panthers largely because that whole area is family rich and growing rapidly!!

The club that has the brains as to how to tap into the Central Coast without losing their tradition and existing fans will do very well.

Already, Souths are looking at leaving the area to North Sydney. A very strange decision. The best thing that Souths can do is win games and draw a crowd. The coach is unproven in the NRL and I wish him luck, the CEO talks more of the game at large and not Souths indicating he has his eyes on a bigger job.

If Souths move to Bear Park it will be the death of the club, infact moving at all will kill the club. If the club starts to win games then crowds will come back and thuis make a profit from the SFS and still remaining in the South Sydney DISTRICT. How can people sit back and say that a move from the SFS will help the club? Sure the rent at Bear Park is lower than the SFS but the facilities are rubbish, the view from the hill is poor to say the least (looking directly into the sun, no shelter if raining), poor parking and a hike from Nth Sydney station. What happens when Souths continue to lose games at Bear Park and the crowds don't show up? Oh, we'd better move to Gosford, look at the wonderful ground they have and no team... "We'll keep all our Sydney fans and get 100,000 more on the coast" bollocks they will....

A move can do one of two things.

Kill the club or help the club.

Moving to North Sydney Oval will do nothing for the club, and if crowds don't show up across the harbour, they'll be in a worse financial position than playing closer to home at the SFS. It could make things worse (and what could be worse than how things are at the moment, we saw that in seasons 2000 & 2001).

Moving to Gosford may upset people... but it would ensure the future of the club. A new begining, a growing league city, a near endless supply of juniors, with the Red and Green jersey running around, with that great Rabbitoh logo. There'd also be a nice $gift from the NRL for relocating.

If they are going to move at least pick an option that is worthwhile, or stay home.

Back in the 80's,Western Suburbs were kicked out of the NSWRL in 1983
Won a court case to be reinstated.
Struggled when they were re-admitted and were regular wooden sponers.
Moved out to Campbelltown in 1987
Then signed a high-profile coach and some big name players.
Had a couple of finals games in the early 90's
Faded away to be easy-beats.
Swallowed up in a joint-venture.

I also agree that going to perth would be a great idea as there is little crowd support to the games and the perth supporters would turn up in good numbers since that is the only team they'll have :idea:
