Pay attention class.

You, the lad from Newcastle, sit up straight and get your eyes off Mrs Smith teaching the girls P.E!

(cough)...

Forget the Little Master, Satts and Paul Sait!

In my view, Mario Fenech was the greatest player ever to wear the red and the green.

Somewhat regrettably, Mario didnt finish his career at the club:

a) Why didnt he finish his career at Souths?

b) What other club/s did he play for?

c) What is Mario's current job with the club?

But Mario's has had his troubles too. For bonus points which one of these multiple choice questions is true:-

1. He never played for NSW

2. Hs brother Joey died whilst working

3. He made some bad investments in the 1990's and lost half of his personal wealth

4. During the war, when he was working for News Ltd he lost his head and said bad things about Souths and people continue to resent him for that.

I know one was Ken Wright and i think the other was Tony Melrose. I was at Redfern that day and i know Ken Wright kicked the clinching field goal, it was a sensational finish.

absolutely correct!

I wasn't there but I remember Rex Mossops call and what game with the lead changing hands 3 or 4 times in the last 10 minutes, Melrose kicked the winning goal against his old club and I can remember the smile on his face like it was yesterday

Dave, disregarding Terry Fahey, Mario is my souths fav as well. 'Test Match' had to be one of the most competitive players to lace on a boot anywhere in the sporting world. You can't coach or teach what Mario had.

I'm with you Dave. Mario is my all time favourite player for Souths, he was my idol when I was an under 7s hooker watching him play hooker for the rabbitohs, then he got bigger and moved into the backrow.

Well done to Zigwaa aand Rabs.

I recall that there was a great deal of controversy when we 'released' Mario.

A friend of mine, an insider, told me that the offer to Mario was absolute rubbish and these were amongst South's darkest days. My mate was both ashamed and very angry about it.

Joey Fenech was an electrician who died on the job by accidental electrocution. It was a residential house job and he was in the roof. It was apparently one of those easy jobs that went horribly wrong. That reminds us all of the daily dangers people face at work.

His brothers death was no secret, Mario issued a press release and he thanked all those who had sent him kind thoughts. He also urged people to be careful at work.

Mario used to go on these powerful runs from dummy half. It usually took 3 and often 4 giant sized defenders to stop him. There would be a mess of arms, legs, heads and torsos.

After a tackle, Mario stood up like he'd been touched by a feather!

Hes a big bloke but not a super-giant like Mason. He just had this "core strength" about him.

He didnt cause any off-field drama's and he was always extremely humble.

A champion's champion.

He wore the red and green.

So which Question are we up to?

One has to be the Titans home ground surely.

Weve only been there once.

Thats when Lowie properly smacked that fiddling inbred Delaney.

Jeez, we had our share of the biff this year!

Sorry Rabs but it was Ken Wright not Tony Melrose who kicked the winning field goal with 20 seconds left on the clock.

I am not sure sugar i think this thread has lost it's way a little. Always watch those prawns at the work X-Mas party as i can guarantee they will be the cheap prawns imported from Thailand!

Working off the original post of answer the question correctly and ask the next question here is the next question.

Souths have had 4 test captains and two world cup captains, name the six of them.

I think thats all of them
You have them all, my mistake i said six but there is only five as "The Little Master" was both a test captain and world cup skipper. Herb Gilbert (1920) is not listed as a test captain in my references. Your question Rabbs.

I know we have won at Carara not sure what year though. I know it was somewhere around the mid 90's. Remember the Chargers did play there previously.
