Sutton Keen for Return

Words & Video: Tom Skolarikis & Guy Bevan
Tue 5th May, 01:13PM A A

John Sutton is edging closer to an NRL return with each day after being sidelined with a fractured jaw – an injury sustained in the Club’s Round two-clash against the Roosters.
Sutton has been a week-to-week prospect for the red and greens as he bids to return to Michael Maguire’s line-up.
“I’ve got to get a scan done later in the week just to make sure it’s healed up properly,” said Sutton.
“I’m just looking forward to getting back and doing some training today.
“Last time I felt pretty close (to a return), but the specialist wasn’t quite ready for me to go back out there.
“He reckons that if I did come back a bit earlier and I did cop a knock it could put me out for three months – I’d rather take another week or two to make sure I’m 100 per cent before I go out there and play.”
Sutton could potentially return to the field this coming Monday night when the Rabbitohs take on the high-flying St George Illawarra Dragons at ANZ Stadium.
“They’re going good,” said Sutton of the Red V.
“They’ve won six straight games and we’ve lost three in a row so we’re looking to bounce back and put in a good performance.
“I think this week is a good challenge for us – they’re leading the comp and playing with a lot of confidence.”
The South Sydney Rabbitohs will take on the St George Illawarra Dragons in Monday Night Football. Purchase your tickets now by clicking here.

Adam Reynolds is a small chance to play but I don't think he will play.

Good luck too. I'm expecting a tough close match too.

I reckon we can get them especially without Dugan and with Sutto back.

Agree. I actually reckon we can turn our poor form around and win in a tight match.

I like the look of our team. But I will say our interchange worries me a bit. McInnes, Lowe, Grant and Brown sounds dodgy to me. But that's what you get when 5 of your first graders are out.

Walker selected?

He will be good to go. They'll strap his badly bruised knee up.

I don't think he'll be 100percent but we need him on the field that's for sure!

Same goes for Keary and GI, they aren't anywhere near 100percent as we all know but will play!

We've certainly got a lot of injuries/concerns this year.

Welcome back Johnny Sutton!!!
