What can you say, no one tipped us, but the boys came through.

Huge match from McPherson and Crocker.

Sutton certainly played his best game of the year and looked dangerous.

Sandow was fantastic, particularly with that short dropout.

Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, this game was a turning point in Sutton's season. With both Sandow and Sutton firing at once we can win games until our injured (those who aren't out for the entire season) get back.

Well done lads. It was a bit tense watching the magpies narrow our big lead but the boys prevailed. Glory glory to South Sydney :)

Thought Tyrell was great defensively, Sutto & Sandow played well, Crocker lead by example, but not so sure that Talanoa did enough right to be picked next week. I for one am sick to death of Talanoa putting his hand up to apologise to his team mates for making a mistake EVERY single time he plays. He did it AGAIN tonight.

Seriously though, can we have a game where I can watch the second half without having any heart attacks and elevated levels of blood pressure? I thought for sure we'd have the game in our hands and in the end we started leaking like crazy - as usual.

Sandow stars as Souths down Tigers

South Sydney showed what an attacking force they can be this NRL season, in their comprehensive 29-18 defeat of Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

In bitter-sweet news for Rabbitohs fans, departing star Chris Sandow continued his rare form, with a personal tally of 13 points and a hand in almost all of Souths enterprising play.

Even though he's leaving Redfern for Parramatta at season's end, with Sandow firing, Souths again proved they could be the sleeping giant in the finals' race.

Wests, who trailed 27-0 at halftime, scored 18 points in the second 40 to keep alive some hope of a miracle comeback, but they never really deserved it.

Behind by the 11-point final margin with 11 minutes on the clock, Tigers prop Andrew Fifita came up with a huge play when he grubbered through for himself and brought down Souths fullback Rhys Wesser in-goal.

But while Rabbitohs fans, coaches and players alike were biting their fingernails as they prepared to defend the biggest set of the game, Sandow showed incredible skill and self confidence to go for a short restart and regain possession for his side.

It was a huge play which virtually sealed the result for the home side, who are back in the mix with the top eight teams.

The Rabbitohs dismantled the Tigers in the first half, with Issac Luke sharp out of dummy half and veteran fullback Wesser winding back the clock with some great runs.

Winger Nathan Merritt crossed for his 100th career try from a Sandow kick to begin the first half romp of four touchdowns.

The Rabbitohs were over again after 15 minutes, thanks to a brilliant offload from prop Ben Ross under pressure, which saw Luke streak away and Wesser finish under the posts.

Souths were enthusiastic despite the absence of stars Greg Inglis, Sam Burgess and Roy Asotasi, while the Tigers were badly off the pace in the opening half. Their clumsiness was best illustrated in the 29th minute when, from a line dropout, Matt Utai and Ben Murdoch-Masila allowed the ball to find touch.

Souths made the Tigers pay for the mistake with a late flurry which saw tries to Fetuli Talanoa, Dylan Farrell and a field goal to Sandow.
The Tigers gave themselves hope thanks to solo try from hooker Robbie Farah early in the second half.

The NSW Origin hopeful threw the last pass for Utai to cross, before Benji Marshall stepped through with 13 minutes left on the clock to set up an exciting finish.

SOUTH SYDNEY 29 (D Farrell N Merritt F Talanoa R Wesser tries C Sandow 6 goals C Sandow field goal) bt WESTS TIGERS 18 (R Farah B Marshall M Utai tries B Marshall 3 goals) at ANZ Stadium. Referee: Steve Lyons, Jared Maxwell. Crowd: 18,245.

Everything you said YES. Mcpherson, Tyrell, Taylor was tireless, Luke back to his best. I always had a sneaky suspicion that underdog status would suit us.

Isaac Luke was my man of the match. The dummy half runs and line break/try he set up were great. He's baaaaaaaack!!

Good performance from the boys. Wesser, McPherson and Sandow standouts with Luke having a very good 1st half. A shame that Talanoa had a little bad patch midway through the 2nd half. He's still not all there confidence wise. He still needs a few weeks in reserve grade to find his confidence.

Thought it was a wonderful effort from our two starting props. Mcpherson has copped plenty from us over the years but he did that 10 jersey proud. Talanoa did his usual of being so far infield he may as well play on the right wing.

Luke was awesome, Taylor good but too many penalties. Jason Clarke has double in size over the off season!

Hunters, I thought my eyes were playing up, but I noticed that too.

He certainly gives us a more mobile bench, which IMHO seems the way to go his year.

Ross played very well and showed he could offload.
Until Inglis back , makes sense to stick with Wesser and Talanoa in the side , experience and size. However when Inglis back , one of those needs to go so that we can blood young bloods , like Roberts. Also would prefer to see Mcqueen back as starting wing , however until at least Lowe back and Taylor free from Origin , makes sense to keep Mcqueen as a bench replacement for backrow.

Tigers were poor in first half , too much "TV and doggies" focus for mine.
We need next week against Warriors to give our season some base .
After that if we can achieve a 50% win rate until Origin series over , no more bad injuries and get Lowe back , Inglis OK , then we may scrape into 8 with hopefully Roy and Sam be available to come into Finals .

Great performance in the first half. Isaac Luke is getting close to his best form. Everyone contirbuted which was good to see.

Second half worried me. Same thing has been popping up this season that we let the pressure off to easily. Needs to be addressed.

Yeah he definitely plays above his size and weight bracket.
Watching him hurl his body at the defence is quite strange... although he gets the job done.

We are very lucky that McQueen can play in the forwards too.
Team for next week will see Talanoa dropped and Roberts dropped.
Corrigan will stay in the centres until Inglis comes back.
Who will come in for Taylor? Pettybourne into the starting line up and then bring in.... ???
Beau Falloon? Black Judd? Deon Apps? Adrian ha'angana? George Burgess?

Anyone been watching the Bears or Toyota Cup closely?
