Bloody oath he is ready. The best five eighth going around short of Lockyer.

I genuinely did not want Soward to be picked for NSW. He'd be on a hiding to nothing against such a ridiculously dominant Queensland team... and while his game is perfect for our well oiled machine-like team where each component perfectly compliments the next and his presence in it may yet again help us to another premiership... State of Origin is less structured, almost haphazard, the form focuses on individuals, and the referees tend to be lax on the 10 metres among other things meaning he'd have zero time or space.

But

His form and achievements are starting to get too compelling.. he's getting to the "must pick" stage that Nathan Blacklock had reached back in 2001. I fear what may follow if Soward is snubbed as Tingha was

While I want Soward to play Origin because I believe players learn from the extreme enviroment, that is an interesting (and scary) thought.

The Qld side has been dominant but there's been a lot of crap selection going on too. I reckon that he'll have time to work his magic.

At a cursory glance of the available talent, I reckon the team below could give the legendary Maroons something to think about

Hayne / Dugan
Uate
Gasnier
JMoz (but would prefer Cooper)
BMoz
Sowie
Pearce / Mullen
Snowden
Farrar
Douglas
Creagh
Scott
Gallen

LRL / Hunt
Weyman
Young
Merrin /Hunt / Baily

Oh and I left Bird out intentionally

My origin side would be

Hayne
B Moz
Gasnier
J Moz
Uate
Soward (the kind of kicking game that can put QLD on the back foot and a good combination with Gaz)
Pearce (a victim of his clubs form in my opinion)
Snowden
Ennis (tougher and more consistent than Farrar)
Weyman
Scott
Gallen (c)
Creagh

Merrin
Tolman
Lahrs
Young
