We must remember Soward and Carney were in the same SG Ball side that won the comp last season. This season Soward has spent all his time (bar 4 games) in Flegg, the level above SG Ball.

Carney has spent the entire season two levels up (PL) and 4 games in First Grade.

Clearly Carney is more further along in his development, or simply the better player.

Good point Thikos. However it may also be a sign that thr Roosters are willing to take their time in the develpment of Soward and the Raiders are desperate for a half and are fastracking Carney..

The majority of people prefer Carney but to kepp this interesting who would you take out of Soward or Campese.

Soward is a better 5/8th prospect than Campese, but Campese has the build to be lock....

Whether we have a better player in Zillman than Soward..... that might be the case... I guess we will see.

no offence to Terry Campese, but from what i've seen so far Carney looks the far better player. i've seen Campo put in some great kicks, but not much in terms of passing, running or defence. i would take Soward over Campese, simply because if each of their strength lies in their kicking game, well, Soward's kicking seems to be superior. Campese does seem to be more versatile, though, and probably a better all round athlete.

agree about campo. His defence, strength & fitness need to improve but, id say that he is a ball playing lock of the future. Byw, who the hell is Bronco Djura?

Bronco Djura was a 5/8th for Souths in the late 1980s from memory.... Club player, but a fairly good one the last time Souths had a strong team.

Campese will have it all over old Bronko!

the toe punting specialist and part time fullback from the Bunnies last premiership challenging team. He was the man at the back when you didn't have anyone else. Very average. He was from the Mavin, Longbottom (he may not have been big but a super name), Harrington era of chunky blokes in positions the other teams had speedy fellas in.

Campo will be in the mix in the future, just a matter of how he's brought along. Personally his pedegree alone has me excited, as he's got the size and physical presence that his uncle didn't have... oh and from what i've seen isn't nearly as soft.

Campo stood up when Carney was ruled out for the remainder of the Parra semi in the second week of the finals. Led the team around the park and put his excellent kicking game to good use.

Even though he has spent most of the time in the #6 jersey I think he will make an outstanding lock.
