Standard Triple J lineup, not much of huge interest apart from Paul Kelly and maybe Florence, Little Red are ok as well, leave your distortion pedals at home kiddies!

Of course you can count on a few emo whiners here. It is probably the best festival lineup to ever hit Australia, and people still aren't happy.

It is an unbelievable lineup. Can't justify the trip myself - glad I saw Pixies last month :)

Oh boo f**king hoo. It would be possibly the best festival lineup to ever hit Australia if 3 of my top 5 all time most hated bands wouldn't be on the list. Hell I still like it, I might even go, but I'm certainly within my rights to complain about Mumford and Sons, Wolfmother and The Vines poisoning that lineup with their f**king awfulness.

That's the beauty of a festival with 3 stages - you have 2 other options when the crap is on.

I just knew when I saw that lineup there would be people bitching about it here...

Emo whiner? Is it so wrong to want a bit of variety? You could class almost any band there as electro, indie or the popular folk thing which seems to be popular all of a sudden (eg Angus and Julia Stone, described as Beige Against the Machine by an SMH reviewer). Only mild variety is the awful commercial rock of the vines and wolfmother.

It is possible to have the popular bands and variety as well. Just a couple of punk bands, maybe something metal even, because festivals are good when there actually is something for everyone.

Vests and Skinny Jeans will be out in force. The lineup made me think of this song

See Soundwave is almost all hardcore metal.

Festivals over the past 3 or 4 years seem to have just gotten so much less variety. Compared to around 2000, when say homebake was in its prime. Perfect festival, something for everyone. The lineups back then were varied yet excellent.

It's a bit of a shame, because something like Splendour sounds like a good festival experience, but not once am i going just for the experience when the music is sh*te, like half the wankers you see at BDO each year.

No it isn't.

So Homebake 2000 is a superior line up to Splendour 2010....

Right.

As for variety every concert has a theme.

Homebake is made up of Australian/New Zealand acts.

Big Day Out is generally popular international and local music.

Splendour is alternative and electro.

I understand that you don't like that music, but what did you expect?

It's like going to KFC for french cuisine.

I might go to have a clear shot at executing Mumford and Sons.

hahaha

With the exception of Mumford & Sons which is so overplayed its not funny it looks like a pretty good lineup. It would be good to see Richard Ashcroft and his new band there particuarly. Having said that I probably wouldn't have the money to spend on it.

No, Soundwave is total garbage.

Splendour - Easily the best festival lineup in Australian history. Surpassing early BDO imo.

It'll have to be sideshows for me though :(. Alas, the ticket prices have surged and with travel, beers etc it will be a $1K minimum event. Just a tad above my student budget.

Missed out on Pixies recently, praying for a sideshow.

Just checking prices of the tickets......

Yeah, I won't be going anymore. Not keen on spending $900 just on f**king tickets. Have they always been this expensive?? I haven't been in the past but can't remember the tickets ever being that expensive when thinking about making the trip in previous years.

Usually single camping tickets are easily $350+. Which is do'able.

$1000? F*ck off. Rather ironic, as you'd assume a lot of the fanbase for most of the bands would fall into a student/youth demographic. Which means there's a high likelyhood of the BDO/Dance festival tool base attending.

I guess quality lineup = quality pricetag.
