Close game. Manly 12 Warriors 2 at half time, Manly went on to win 26-20.
Defense from both teams was great, attack was pretty average.
I thought Wiki and Price had pretty quite games, especially wiki, the same can be said for Michael Monogan who had a quite game.

Just on watching this game and the Parra game, there has been so many handling errors by both sides.

Wiki: 23 tackles, 19 hit ups, 184 metres
Price: 27 tackles, 19 hit ups, 151 metres

I thought both of those guys were quite incredible. I thought Stacey Jones looked suspect again, the Warriors forward pack went forward but there was no direction offered by Jones and Hohaia. Only Ropati offered any direction, and that came in the 80th minute. Which is ordinary given how much dropped ball there was, in particular from Clinton Toopi who looks worse than last year if that is possible.

I suspect a long season for the Warriors, and I now think based on Manly's defence that they could be a very serious threat to the top 8.

Extremely well played Manly.

Warriors need a coach.

It was live on Fox. The result is easy to find.

Is there a better kicker in the game than Witty?

Manly look to be on their way back. Hill has lost none of his niggle.

Yes Price and Wiki were brilliant.
Webby also made 144 metres, Betham 32 tackles and 78 metres. Pretty good.
Fein looked great when he took charge. Put up some nice kicks, stung in defence.
Jones looked slightly confused.
Hohaia looked lost at sea. Every time he got the ball he seemed to make a slow run and die with it.
Ropati looks like a serious threat to his position for mine.

Let down by average handling, completion rate of 52%. Admittedly more than the Eagles' 48% but we seemed to pick our times to hand it over very very very badly!
Also a bit of the bounce of the ball, and mostly a lot of confusion amongst the playmakers.

Still saw many positives and I am sticking with my prediction of a top 8 finish for us.

Good game Manly!

If the Warriors have the biggest pack, Manly must be bigger cause the Warriors forwards were outmuscled today, wiki and price didnt do enough. Very close game, but very good defence by Manly

We are ranked about 8th in pack size from memory. All our forwards have lost weight.
Price and Wiki did their jobs well, our playmakers did not.
Toopi and Koopu did some incredibly stupid things.

I beg to differ. The Warriors pack did muscle up, putting on a number of big hits. Price 151m, Wiki 184m. Villasanti and Koopu also topped 100 metres. There's only so much Price and Wiki can do, 335 metres between the two of them is probably more than I expect really, and the Warriors are kidding themselves if they need more from them - they need to back up their foundation and take it on themselves rather than rely on them.

Where it was lost was in the halves and outside backs. Manly were all over them.

Witt went all right. stifled Monas in attack a few times but that's to be expected from a new halves pairing in a lower ranked side I suppose.

I thought the Warriors Forwards held thier own really. Monaghan, Witt and Williamson really marked up on thier kicking and gave us a vital tactical advantage. We got 1 40/20 all year in 2004 and we've already got 2 in round one!

Well, technically we have. The guy who mentored SBW and Roy Asotasi and sent them to the Bulldogs is now with the Warriors - John Ackland.

As far as Tony goes, I didn't think much of 2004 as far as his season went, but he played reasonably well today I thought. Defence was quite good, particularly early on he was getting into it quite a bit.

What game were you watching? If anything the Warriors forwards had the edge, although I'd call it pretty even. The Manly backline however offered a lot more and their kicking game was spot on (two 40-20s, one try from a pinpoint bomb, one from a short kick etc), Witt deserved MOM for mine. Don't get me wrong, Manly were the better team on the day but it wasn't the forwards that won it for them.

The Storm and Dogs are the only teams who've controlled the ball well so far, everyone else has had a pretty abysmal error rate.
