The tigers and dogs have been improving their roster year on year.. while we sat there on our hands.. we would be specials for the 2024 Wooden Spoon imo, if not for the 'chance' that Flanagan can turn this ship around with whatever dregs are in the roster and get us into ~10-12th spot.. with a roster building for 2025.

They mentioned on the radio that we lost every single away game this season.. wow.
Really ? did you see Bulldogs line defence?

I feel like my post has been confused.. the Dogs and Tigers "rosters" have been steadily improving over the last 2 years.. the Dogs are still getting their s*it sorted out, but by 2024 (let alone 2025 and beyond), they are going to have a star-studded roster, with depth plus gun juniors from their dominant lower grades pushing through for laughs...

We did none of that.. we sat on our hands, and hoped and prayed that an extension to old mate Hook could harness some SG ball kids in Sloane/Sullivan/Amone to somehow correct our fortunes.. then we spent 4mths finding a new coach during the peak recruitment period.... lazy lazy lazy administration.

We "would" be specials for next years spoon based on our roster.. the hope is that Flanagan can somehow get something out of this squad that gets us in front of some more teams.. but as much confidence as I have in Shane.. it wont be easy, even the traditionally crap teams like Warriors, Knights, Raiders, Titans, Cowboys etc are going gangbusters.. this has become a bluddy hard competition.

Bluudy hard is right TheRev. Unless we can get several much better players for next year and I mean really much better players and not some just better than what we have, then our season will be a tough one. All of the "established" top 8 teams of 2023 will maintain their winning strengths for 2024 and most of the current bottom 8 teams with the exception of the Dragons (unless we do get those much better players), will have good rosters in 2024 to be more than competitive. So yes, the competition is and continue to be bluudy hard and at this stage we look like the wooden spooners for 2024. But let us see how things pan out in the crucial next 6 months.

Lost every single away game and haven't won consecutive games all year the team below us has done both of those things. Has really been a POS year.
Lost all away games is a shocking Stat. :-
Under Hook the lost away to - Broncos, Titans, Raiders, Chooks, Tigers and Cows. Mind you Chooks, Raiders, Cows and Titans were struggling for wins at the time. 2 current top 8 side.
Under Carr - Warriors, Souths, Eels, Sharks, Panthers, Dolphins. - 4 current top 8 sides.

Dogs roster has improved but they have gone backwards big time. On NRL360, under Dean pay they averaged 20 pts against all season. Much weaker side than they have now. This year they average 35 points against. They have a guy named Gould who likes to somehow deflect how bad they are and likes to throw other teams under the bus.

Dogs may have a stronger roster but Saints have the better coach. I think the coach plays the bigger role in a teams success. Cirraldo was the most popular assistant coach in history and has been a huge dud. Players are already not playing for him. And he signed on for 5 years.

Apparently up to 8 players want out of the Bulldogs.

Watching the developments in Belmore makes me appreciate more that Ryles was not signed on a long contract and they ended up with a Premiership winning coach for 3 years.

Sounds like the Bulldogs are becoming like the Tigers where the players will hold all the power and they will be sacking coaches every couple of years.

Yep proof that some of these so called rookie “super coaches” are myths. It’s unforgivable that Ciraldo took a better roster than last year backwards. We dodged a bullet with Ryles.

I personally would take a rookie NRL coach that served some time in England and won something than 1 that just sat in the background of a great NRL coach.

The one to look out for now is Adrian Lam who won Leigh Leopards their first trophy in a long time a couple of weeks ago. He was a great player but proving to be a super coach as well.

Sad but true, I am interested in and happy about the last place team losing. I do think our boys under Carr have done enough, although not winning, to show they are on the improve from bottom place. Next year I hope i am interested in our team playing for a finals position
