I'm just a noob here fellas so help me out... Red Cardinal won the Belmont Cup in a time quicker than last years Melbourne Cup. And quicker than anyone except Protectionist since 2002.

Same length race at 3200m.

Is that relevant? I know how pacing can be slow in a 2 mile race but it can't be a bad thing.

Relevant to a degree. Put it this way it is relevant if you want it to be relevant. Times generally are a bit quicker in the Belmont Cup as a rule though and that actually worries me about RC as his best runs have been in quickly run races. Will he get that on Tuesday? Not so sure. At the price happy to risk, but if it's run quickly it's some hope. I feel it's more a chance for 3rd and 4th rather than winning.

Even thought it's a lottery race I can't have it. Not when Darren Weir who trained the horse did't want to run it- wanted to head to the smaller Cup in a few weeks, forget the name. That tells me something isn't 100% right.

I just think he doubts its up to the class... he shouldn't doubt himself though the merkin won it with a 101 pop two years ago.

It's going in my multiples

True but at least with Prince of Pendance the Melbourne Cup was it's goal. Just every interview Weird has done he's wanted to hold Big Duke back from the Cup. Something isn't right with the preparation.

I've already cashed out my Big Duke bet- taken a loss but happy to take a bit of a loss.

Marcelo into favourite ($8)

Amelie's Star firming $25 into $16

Red Cardinal $21 into $18

Tibetan $35 into $26

Wall of Fire (steady at $13)

Almandin ($8.50 out to $9, so just a small drift)

Johannes Vermeer ($11 into $10)

Is Ameiles Star the forgotten horse??? Has absolutely no weight and did beat Almandin two starts ago on his merits.

With aidsface Williams off she’ll be going into everything for me.

One I have backed for a large collect Winx/Amelie Star Cox Plate/MC double

Yendall gives me aids though he's butchered enough

Hmmm. I keep coming back to hartnell.

Can James Cummings win his first melbourne cup and break the plodolphin hoodoo?

Not with Hartnell it can't. If it couldn't last year when it was flying it won't this year when its going like a busted

If you put a bullet to my head and said you have to pick one horse to run top 10, Hartnell would probably be the one I pick, but it is also one horse I can definitely rule out.

His last run was a total forgive imo. He is a class animal and that will make sure he runs well again but is up in the weights and the MC seems to be an afterthought, a week ago they were saying either the 2000m race or the paddock.

Just watched a reply of last year. Was three wide with cover all the way and was off and running before the turn. The first two had very economical runs and sucked up into it on straightening (both great rides).

Goes up 1.5kgs but still carries less than wfa. The fact that he is running is a really good guide to how he is going imo.

If it wins, ill be spewing if i didnt have something on at 25/1. The price is very wrong for mine.
