I like it as well, seems reasonable odds & more than stacks up against this field.
Kluger only racing once since Winx farewell is a big cross against.
Only runner I’d instantly lay is Castlevecchio...no way it’s up to this.
I actually give it a chance. Has a touch of class about it and 2000m suits. Most likely been set for this race all along and has a postage stamp.

Lacks tactical speed which is a negative but if they go mad enough his light weight/stamina combo will take him a long way.

I really like Castelvecchio as a horse, but there is no way I could back it with its racing pattern at Moonee Valley in the WFA championship of Australasia.

In saying that it would not surprise me one iota if the little merkin jumps takes a sit and peels of somethings back coming round the bend and gives it a serious shake.

I'm in the minority but I'm actually really looking forward to the race this year. Full field, local hopes, Europeans, Japanese, Kiwi X factor horse a 3yo... its got a bit of everything.

I'll be backing Magic Wand ew just for an interest but no confidence whatsoever.

Same, could pan out a few different ways.
Just can’t use the Shamus rule assessing Castlevecchio.
Will have a nibble on a couple of Europeans & hopefully land something back.
Very interesting version not littered with speed humps.

Got one already with Bivo tomorrow night (both win only), Lucifers Reward & Cliffs Edge (both EW). Small stake but massive return if it gets up.

Biv probably wins but barrier 1 scraes the living daylights out of me. I've backed it a bit earlier.

My multi is Lys Gradieux (win) into Loving Gaby (Place) into Exhilirates (best of the day on Saturday). I like the two roughies you've listed though.

Yankee Rose was a better horse and didn’t come within 10L of winning with less weight
Yankee rose finished 3rd behind winx and hartnell which, at the time, was probably the best wfa form in the world.

It was certainly well within 10l as well

Winx beat Hartnell by 8L! It wasn’t even close. Even so it had less weight and was a better horse...Castlevecchio is the biggest poison odds ever on Saturday will be leaving it out of everything except maybe 4th in my f4

Woke up this morning to Find a notepad with horses names scribbled on it. Some names were readable others might take a bit more investigation. Must have been watching some late night tips between beers . Anyway, could be a new way of winning( or losing)

It's hard to assess Castelvecchio, the only 3 year old to win the Cox Plate as a backmarker in the past 800 years was Octagonal and he was an out and out champion, the other 3 years old who won the Cox Plate in the past 800 years all raced right up on the pace(Shamus Award,So You Think,Savabeel)

I dunno if the above nonsense even means anything tbh but Castelvecchio is certainly no Octagonal

Had a man crush on Show County back in the day . Even came down for the slipper that year, he ran 3rd in the bog at 11-1.if it was dry would have. Started at 6-4. Them were the days. And don’t forget Beau Zam. ( someone explain to Locky who he was)

Shamus and Savabeel were weak years from memory, & SYT was out of the box that year compared to most 3yos.
If Castlevecchio wins, I’m backing Tom Melb next start & I never back it.

Shamus was a weak Cox Plate but Savabeel's Cox Plate was so delicious good sir

Fields of Omagh = 2 time Cox Plate winner
Grand Armee = Champion
Elvstroem and Starcraft = Both went onto become International Group 1 winners
Elegant Fashion = Hong Kong Derby winner
Paolini = Multiple Group 1 winner overseas

Underrated Cox Plate that one
