Spring 2024

I'm not much of a horse punter. I did jag a 2$ trifecta that paid over 1300$ many years ago with a few other uninspiring wins over the years. I did used to go pretty good on the sweepstakes Mum's work would hold every year on Melb Cup day. She always put me in it , bless her.

This year, a mate of mine has talked my brother and I into chucking 50$ each into the ring and doing a heap of boxed first4 bets (i think?).
Now that the field is set, I'm lookin for some tips and/or any other strategies you blokes might have. I used to like boxing 4 for a trifecta.
Anyway, any helpful hints, tips would be appreciated and if any get up, I'll be sure to come back here to let you knpw what a legend you are.
Good luck to you all. cheers n thanks.

Edit: boxed.

f**k the cups got a long tail. Starting to think the best roughie might be the bottom weight now that Athabascan is scratched. If Buckeroo runs the trip he has the Melbourne cup winning form.

Vauban 2.5L off Kyprios last start and he meets this field 7 kilos lighter?? Set for the race again and has been trained much differently after melting down last year. Great form, bugger all weight, decent draw, gets cooler weather, overs price imo.
I know it’s boring but him and Buckeroo are far and away the top picks for me.
I’ll be chucking Land Legend, Zardozi, Warp Speed, Interpretation, St George and Mostly Cloudy in my exotics.
Best of luck gentlemen!!

Starting to lean into that metrop form now too. Agree about Buckeroo. I reckon the track might be a bit hard for some of the overseas horses.

gonna back Land Legend and hope it settles.
