I picked Within The Law out from the Classic Sale as one of my top selections as one I might look to snag a share in. Loved the breeding and thought she’d be a lovely 1600-2000 classic filly.

Then she was bought for 30k by Darby and thought yuk must be something wrong with her and Darby squeeze you for every dollar so I avoided.

Comes out and wins 300k in a pre Xmas listed 2yo race over 1000m

Bruh. If she ended up getting bought for 30k, why didn’t you get a share?

This might be a dumb question, I don’t know much about “Darby”?

Kicking myself now mate obviously but I always prefer just to buy a shares direct from a trainer rather than go through a syndicator.

Syndicators are there to make money so they put a markup on the sale price and then there is plenty of added fees as well. Trainers generally only ever add on the standard costs…vet inspections, transport, insurance etc.

To be honest I really liked her and was quite shocked she was only 30k so part of me also thought she was a little too cheap as well and might have an issue.

Year before I picked out Island Dec who looks a really nice filly, I was close to buying a share in her but was also only 35k and went a different way.

My 3yo Impending gelding should be hitting the track soon, have had to be patient with him but he’s trialled up okay.

Of course Brad Davidson is “white-knighting” for the non-performance of Labuschagne.

Heaven forbid anyone get held accountable for dishing up hot dog turds whenever the bright lights get turned on.

Watching Brad Davidson’s and his “hot tips” of $1.65 favourites get rolled every Saturday is like watching him get bowled neck and crop by one of John Howard’s triple-bouncing quarter-trackers.

Every. Single. Week.

I love Marnus, but the merkin couldn’t hit a grape with a tennis racket at the moment.

Davo AB averaged 55 in test cricket maybe we should be playing him too. What a dumb argument.

Ah yes. That Darby. The “Overpass” Darby.

Bjorn was on the radio talking about how well Darby have done picking out good horses for 70-100k price. Apparently Overpass cost 75k and has won over 10M now.

I’ve had horses both with Syndicates and direct with trainers, both with varying results both ways. Paying a monthly admin fee of $60 p/m to First Light does give me the shits, but Darby definitely look like they know what they’re doing.
