Yeah fair enough, from what I have read Madden has been described as an organising half, (to me that means pass first run second) now if we keep Brooks does he become the running half and if we punt Brooks do we have AD as the running foil to Madden's organsing.

And given that a lot of clubs play one half on one side of the field does that mean Madden would organise say the left side of the field and if the ball went out to say brooks on the right hand side of the field would that mean predominantly running play only on that side ?
Ok yip..I think Let’s say it would be Reynolds and AD ...so even though AD can’t run fast he has some effective running in him which may work at 6..if AD doesn’t work at 6 then Reynolds and Madden wouldn’t work..There are several other 6’s sprinkled through the team including Talau, Laurie....
It all depends how Brooks go’s this year..
We will get a good idea on him tomorrow I think

Still not mentioned on the WT's site?

True.

But students of the recent Laurie transfer we know as a question of fact, that Daine got onto the Tigers coach for the trip to Lismore with the boys in Sydney -a day or so before it was officially announced ( lunchtime on the Sunday I think).

We know this because Daine gave it away in his first interview!

Henceforth, the announcement will be made at a time when club pr consider it will raise maximum benefit.

The planned delay gave the club pr and technical staff the opportunity to manage the content, post the material, advise the nrl and media etc. It ensured that the clubs interests in terms of propaganda was attended to and the requisite optimism was transmitted wholly.

It compared extremely favourably to the knee jerk media response the knights dished out when Mitchell ran amok. I posted about those failings at the time. At one time during that fracas Mr Buderus and Mr O’Brien claimed that the event was “bringing the squad closer” or words to that effect. It was poorly thought out and the irrationality and denial was stupendously idiotic and disingenuous.

And Mitch trying to tell people he had changed and would do better was incredulous and a re-run of woofy-gate. I think most of us fans were mildly amused at the time.

My thoughts were that whole handling of the matter painted the player involved and the club in a bad light. But they will challenge for the finals despite this and O’Brien got an extension lol.

Why some people in clubs and the nrl think we are all stupid defies logic.

The savage treatment dished out to Corey Norman is a good example of disrespectful treatment of fans.

You like that we have a huge pack don’t you?
I question that wisdom when rule changes will open the game up more than it ever has been.
Will our big pack keep up?
Exactly. We have had a small pack for ever, now the rules change, and we have a huge pack. Doh!

I respectfully disagree and to clarify for His Eminence @stryker

A) we have a massive pack with added mongrel
B) they are just about all young goers
C) they are overwhelmingly agile and mobile.
D) they are now ultra fit and resilient.

These features and benefits if harnessed properly should serve to improve play the ball speed.

E) they are now very well led and managed in real time. They will receive commands mostly instantaneously.

Sides that did well last year were a bit unconventional in style.Panthers and Souths were two examples.

We need to think out of the box and push boundaries.

Big forwards on the fly, bodies in motion, they wreak havoc with defence capability on many levels.

Physically a great side, but we need that footy intelligence and composure. Big challenge.

When a player is being tackled, the player wants to position him or herself to get up quickly. Power and strength via big forwards is very useful in the wrestle!

Anthony Seibold addresses this in greater and more knowledgeable detail on the official nrl site. It’s up there now and it’s not to be missed for serious fans.

Ffs FTW Tigers, load it all up and let ‘em f**king have it 2021.

Shows how far WT have moved on under Madge that Brooks is now ( pretty sure) our longest serving player...next Nofo then Twal? as far as i can figure without looking at the current list.... This season also is our first without having at least one of the '05 ullumni....during Robbie and Benji's brief absence we had either Pat Richards and Dean H holding court ...good for the club to finally put that book up on the history shelf.

It's my understanding that we need 28 signed players by tonight?

We have 27 if my memory is right?

Jock Madden has been signed today, so I am assuming he is 28, i think 1 more now and hold 1 for end of June when we have to have 30?

In Pascoe’s segment on the WT app he mentioned that Edene Gebbie’s visa has finally been sorted and will be with the squad after quarantine on a train and trial basis.

Also mentioned we have signed someone which will be announced on Monday (today) although seen nothing offical yet. Apparently the squad rules are we need 28 by 1 March and this new signing takes us to 28, I am guessing it will be that South’s prop that was rumoured.

Brooks, Nofa and Liddle are the only 3 who have been here for 4+ years, Twal next as he came mid way through 2017

On “Ask the Boss” on WT’s web site, Pascoe indicated that Gebbie (spelling) has now arrived and currently in quarantine for 2 weeks, will be on a train and trial contract.

So, we have 2 spots left, who to sign?

For me, either Simpkins or Kelma T, we have plenty of time for spot 30?

@Disillusioned Tiger and I say “ hi” to the AMONE knockers...

As for Jackson, we will get back to on that one it wasn’t my rumour but- I’ll buy into it to settle the account lol.

I’ve been giving it to our Panther buddies about Laurie. It’s been fun.

AMONEs signing means Reynolds is off the market.

Good signing at base level, will need some work but he fits the profile. Powerful beef at full speed. No off switch.

Our bench is loaded up with impact terror! Scary.

How good was last night and today, for us long suffering WT fans ?
Yes, only a trial and let's not forget that.
But seriously, how effin good was it !!!
We had power, speed, offloads, support, speed, camaraderie, strong bench, power and speed. Line bending, PCMs, speed and power.
Sure Manly were without Jake Turbo and long neck . . . but we were a couple short too.
We are a different team.
There's only so many ways you can score a try. If we would have taken an intercept, we would have ticked them all off in one game.
Liddle and the #9 Simpkin add up to at least one Harry Grant. There. I said it.
There is one problem with signing Amone. From a galloping horse. . . he, Joffa and Kelma all look like Joffa. FIIK which one is which.
I messaged all my mates that are Saints or Parra fans to see how they were going.
This isn't the early crow.
But this year looks like it'll be different.

Amen.

The interview with Madge afterwards, you can sense he was a bit bewildered himself with that massive turn up. He tried to keep cool, but his heart was pumping strong.

I think he truly believes we can final, his grand master plan is finally starting to taking shape.

Much ado about the warm reception from the crowd as the players filed off. Well done.

I’ve watched Lucy again, he tore them to shreds and he is right into the team spirit.

Roberts almost suffocated in adoration after his skilful try. Players hugging try assisters was cool.

We’ve gotta get them belting each other harder at training!

Pound for pound, this is an excellent pre season spell for us. That’s all we can ask for.

Long way to go, but at least we seem to have hit the season running.
