So we've let a few players go recently, and probably tapped a few others on the shoulders for year's end, so any rumours of any big signings to come? We appear to be clearing the decks for who?
Need another 2 big middle forwards imo, to cover for injuries and possible retirement Mannah and another hooker as most likely IDG will retire. Also Meehan is no certainty to be cleared to play by NRL for next year.

Btw with the problem IDG has, after a few months with no improvement, club should have been proactive and forced him into medical retirement. Now they have paid his full years salary which should have been paid by insce coy.

You think that you can "force" a guy into medical retirement ?

Did you know that it involves droves of independently appointed Drs and that the NRL have the final say ?

Letting second tier players go isn't 'clearing the decks'. It's just letting them pursue better opportunities elsewhere. It doesn't free up cap space.

Neither Mannah, Scott nor IDG would want to retire. This is how they support their families. At 33 years of age Beau Scott is the oldest, and he has a contract worth several hundred thousand dollars for 2018. Retirement would be the last thing on his mind.

Unless you are the Storm and just put them on the coaching staff for the same coin.

So Meehan can't play, but is in our 2017 squad... I'm confused!

The ages in brackets at expiry of their contracts thing makes the squads for each year a bit hard to read... might be visually better to have that info as an alphabetical list under a separate heading at the end - e.g. Age at end of contract, Auva'a 2018 26.?

We don't have a Wenty squad. There are Eels contracted players (who train full time with the Eels squad) and Wenty contracted players (who train part time). Some Eels players do a couple of ballwork sessions with the handful of Wenty players picked in ISP that week, then they play together (for Wenty) on the weekend.

I suggest you read the media reports that we posted in the Rumours thread. He was given permission to train and play for Wenty with a view to then joining the Eels NRL squad which I dont recall seeing as yet.

He's been training with the first grade squad, wearing Eels training shirts, been in Eels training squad photos. He's an Eels contracted player and has been given permission to train with the Eels but cannot play first grade.

If you want further proof of this you can watch Semi Radradra's Instagram story today where Meehan is in the Eels gym dancing and performing a modified chin-up whilst wearing an Eels training shirt.

I'll take your word for it, I just haven't seen an official media release saying he can train or play with the NRL squad.
