Think of him as an Eels player who is banned from playing NRL but not ISP. He's definitely on a full time contract and therefore contracted to the Parramatta Eels.

Because the social media team have better things to do, or things they think of as a higher priority at the moment? Announcing guys that take up options has to be low on the "official" communiques list for a footy club, and something they probably just get around to when troubled by bothersome fans.

They announced Davis too, which was rumoured to be an option. I believe with Auva'a it was just a two year contract but with the duration not reported at the time (second of November). Not an extension signed recently.

Obviously anything could've happened, but some scenarios are more likely than others.

And gets approval to play from the NRL.

Makes sense though. Why would we pay him to train this year, get him fit and approved with the NRL only to watch some other club poach him for 2018?
