This is from the sporting news website so could be crap, but if not there appears to be new rules for picking development players:

“Under reported new rules, development players – who are not included in a club's top 30 squad – will train full-time with first grade and can be selected in the NRL following the June 30 player movement deadline.”

“This is in contrast to 2018, where development picks were ineligible to play first grade except in extraordinary circumstances such as an injury crisis to a specific position within the top 30.”

I thought Greg L had dropped back to a wenty contract, obviously not.
Was surprised by Mahoney’s omission though makes sense if they have changed eligibility rules.
We have 1 spot left to fill prior to March

I suspect Mahoney still on development contract and assume if nothing changes between now and season start, he’ll be player 29.

So 28 players and only one recognised dummy half, who is probably the most injury prone player in the NRL and isn't effective over 80 minutes.

This also effectively means that they will have to add at least one more dummy half (most likely Mahoney), but that realistically unless they f**k someone off then they're unlikely going to sign The Plane. It appears more about no roster position than no room in the cap, as you'd imagine they will keep roster spot 30 open until mid season.

And our best dummy half in the club is on a development contract???? We never announced player 29 or 30 last year. We got Kenny off the books, and Beau retired and he still wasn't added to the squad.

Now it's next season and he still hasn't been upgraded??? Nah we shouldn't question the club or be negative in anyway shape or form or just be labeled a Boring death rider........

Why would you upgrade him from development to full-time before you have to?

Why would you, lets low ball him like we did to Junior Paulo and he went elsewhere. As it stands he isn't in the top 28 so he can't start unless we have injuries. Surely he should be in that top 28 and an automatic choice as our first dummy half??? Because we told by the experts that Kaysa is on a bare minimum this season
