Well that's just not true. Talau has been the SG Ball coach for St George for one season, and it was their best season in a long long time. Not to mention the amount of imports they brought in to play for St George this year due to their lack of actual quality juniors. Tonga, Pauli, Latu, Gyemore to name a few. If that isn't funding, I'm not sure what is. There was an improvement this year in St George SG, and a decline in Illawarra. Give it time, they're improving those pathways and getting in players from outside the St George catchment. Thank god Russ Aitken is gone so that Illawarra might have a chance to showcase their potential next season
Agree, club has put their hand up and admitted they had neglected the StGeorge side, as you mentioned we have brought in a heap of outsiders into the Dragons juniors and 3 of them made it into the Australian Schoolboys side as well (Tonga, Latu and Halangahu)

Yep, that’s all fact. Plenty of money being spent bringing in external players. Willie Talau knows his stuff.

While the current set-up is not perfect, name dropping former legends to parachute in as coaches is fantasy.

The Dragons are extremely amateurish in a lot of ways, it would take me all night to list them. They're so not with the times it isn't funny. I fear there will be no Dragons in 30-50 years if they continue along the trajectory they're on
Agree with that too. But sadly, my timeframe is closer to 15 years. All initiative is still throttled by Craig Young & Doust. They need to go for any real change to be able to be achieved. If not, there will be no genuine change/improvement.

The Bulldogs news today in regards to the Nrl team at training and players walking is a issue that the Dragons SG ball squad and pathway coaching was having with a ex Bulldogs player .
The news today will open up a can of worms .

Parko, so is that the problem in the past ( I hope ) . How did someone like Aitkin fail at one job but yet be given another? Does this lead back to his connection to Haran ? O for the days when our Reggie’s & third grade youngsters were tutored under Paul Broughton & Maxie Ninnas !

I think Saints need to change the coaching structures and retention of juniors, then all will fall into place and they will become strong again. It appears they are being let down by the coaching.
It sure does particulatly when you see players like alone & Sloan lacking all round basic skills, particularly in defence. Haran obviously hasn’t made himself popular as well.

I don’t understand the hate on the pathways? We have 4 Australian school boys, 2 of them signed up to long term top 30 deals
It’s not hate from me but the implementation. The danger with having SOME players in the program over a number of years is some get ahead of themselves which is not a problem in itself, but with apparent dubious coaching they make NRL not equipped to handle the rise in standard . Not for all of course but for Amone , Feagels& Sloan I counter with the Couchmans.
