At 600k, he's almost the perfect signing for us.
Agreed. Absolutely makes sense. Broncos would have a fair idea of the minimum amount of time Ezra will be sidelined and have moved to cover.
We got a future rep hooker in the wings (however he's barely played a dozen games), we got a future rep 5/8 (however he likes to drive on the wrong side of the road). We've also got a halfback who is struggling to stay fit. He covers all 3.
Bit arrogant. Plenty of good juniors don't make the grade and fewer still make reps... It's not all down to skill and there are plenty of traps to navigate, as Ezra has demonstrated. But yes, Bunt can cover those positions if he has a mind to.
I also think this is something Ben Hunt has wanted to do ever since 2015, there wouldn't be a day in his life where he isn't reminded of the fact he dropped the ball in golden point of a Grand Final, on his own line. He essentially gave them a penalty kick, in soccer terms. I think he will be in a great space, he doesn't need to pull out the circus tricks, we've got a pretty good roster. It makes sense for everyone.
This is the theatre I love. Look if the Bunt redmption arc leads him to the ultimate success, then he will have earnt it... but I will be death riding him all the way!
Dragons fans will be salty, they're entitled to be. They paid him a million dollars a year, went through multiple coaches, they gave him the keys to the castle. He didn't really live up to his end of the agreement though. Barely got them into a finals series from memory.
Not sure we'll be salty... well maybe a little if he towels us up and/or performs in clutch moments leading to big game wins... I don't mind the bloke and his effort, but his unwillingness to be a team player, petulance (from a 34 year old), age and lack of top 4 quality players around him are the reasons I'm happy to see him go. Dragons are best off building on last year and building for a tilt in 3-5 years... and he's not part of that equation.
