I read that also, I tried to look up some info on the area but did not really come up with much. I personally think it is time to take the games away from Pennsylvania, its not that it hasn't been good but it is time to expand.

I had at one time talked to a fella from Georgia who was a big League fan and was interested in starting a team but lost all contact.

Georgia is in the south - below Nth and Sth Carolina - with Savannah on the coast. As far as elague goes - none of the current AMNRL teams are anywhere near there (Washington DC would be around 8 hours drive at least).

I think there has been interest in Florida in the past which is fairly close

That's great! The AMNRL are getting closer and closer to Texas.

HOwever, the AMNRL need to look West, and not South. There are maybe 10 states on the East Coast, and 40 that aren't. The AMNRL need to progress west.

Maybe we could get a game in Dallas?

Several areas the AMNRL needs to look at including the South , I am sure given time (& money) their attention will shift westwards

The reason for having the game in Savannah is because St Patrick's Day down there is HUGE and there is already a big rugby tournament there that weekend. The parade is second only to the one in New York City and the game is likely to draw a very big crowd.

Thanks for that grubsey
I guess Boston could have been another option as well then - though not as many hot southern chicks

EXACTLY!!!

Seriously though, Savannah is HUGE on St Patrick's Day and there will be a very big rugby contingent down there already so it is a great opportunity to attract a big crowd to the game.

What tournament will it be? Where will the clubs come from? How many players will there be to convert?

Maybe you guys could have a "union liason officer" who could help players get contacts and information on starting league in their areas.

Also, are the Wolfhounds "Ireland" or "Ireland 'A'?"

With plenty of promotion this should be a winner, and a good chance to seek contacts to get some teams started. Just hope that the game is not lost amoungst the RU comp that is on at the same time, but the opportunity is there to suceed in a big way.

Savannah was a great soap  and it will make a great venue for this clash.

The AMNRL has shown initiative moving to a renowned hub for St Pat's Day where there is coinciding RU. This is a chance to make contacts. Wouldn't it be great if this triggered 4 teams for a comp down there. But I won't get my hopes up.

What do you guys think of an under 28 Tomahawk team for this game? Or a team made up of all 1st and 2nd year Tomahawk players?

I think this would be the perfect time to show the young talent in the AMNRL.

I believe thier are several individuals that could play for the Tomahawks, but have been over looked.

What do people think about this idea?

I think based on the squad Ireland named, it is important USA name a near full strength side. Should be a great match.

Tomahawk - bad idea. Under 28 is not "young talent" anyway. Under 23 maybe but it is a bad idea. Rugby League is America must continue to grow and strengthen and we cannot risk any backward steps for the sake of charity, i.e. giving other guys a go because they are of a certain age. Who do you believe has been overlooked in the past?

Grubsey:

I could only name Glen Mills Guys, but I think each team could at least name 3-6 players they think could play on the Tomahawks. Let me give you a list of Glen Mills players that I believe would be good on a team like I have said.

Kevin Deal - 2nd year Tomahawk player
Matt Shannon - Winger/Center
Ben Mills - WingerkCenter
Brian Coner - 2nd row
Joe Becker - 2nd row
Lenny Lux - Winger/Center

Thier are a few players that I believe would be good for a team of 1st and 2nd year tomahawk players. All of them with the exception of Kevin Deal are under 28 also.

I am 99% possative the Sharks could give u a list of 5+ guys also. Would also be safe to say that the Kights and Slayers could give you a list of 5+ guys. Also would be safe to say the Wildcats could give me a list of 5+ guys also.

So I believe their are several young guys who get over looked for the Tomahawk team. All you got to do is open your eyes, and think more then 10 seconds. The AMNRL needs the ounger players to keep playing. How can you make them want to keep playing, throw them a bone.

You would need to make it younger than Under 28s that is getting close to ancient for RL internationals. It needs to be more like under 23s or even 21s. USA Tomahawks A

Tomahawk - Kevin Deal most likely will be in the squad for the Ireland game and was in the 2003 Victory Cup squad. As for the other Glen Mills guys you mentioned and not to take anything away from them, I honestly can't even put faces to their names which means they haven't made too much of an impression on me to date. I certainly have no say whatsoever in who gets picked in the Tomahawk squad, but as the player/coach of the Wildcats, I always have my eye out for good or dangerous players in opposition teams.

As for the 5+ plus guys from the Sharks, Knights, Wildcats etc, GIVE ME SOME NAMES. You can't just say that there are "at least 3-6 players from each team that could play on the Tomahawks". WHO are they and WHY??? This is what I am talking about with you Tomahawk, you shoot your mouth off without any substaintiated evidence to back your statements up. Open YOUR eyes and take 10 seconds to base your statements on facts, not whimiscal notions and ideas.

I can tell you all without reservation that the Tomahawks selection committee is ALWAYS looking at new players, whether they be 20, 22, 24 or 30 in order to continue to strengthen the US team. The best available squad and team should always and is always the only concern, not how old any particular player is.

If you read before you opened your mouth, you would have read that I said I could only name Glen Mills guys. I believe every team thinks they have guys that could play on the Tomahawks, that do not get pick.

As for the guys I have mentied grumbsey wrote:

You apprently have not seen to many Glen Mills matches. .

Nuiy has had Joe Becker name in the pot for the past year.

As for Brain "Buco" Confer, ask the Sharks or Fight about him. Buco is about 5'8'', 275 pounds, bald head. Ask around, Buco has ran many people over.

Matt Shannon you can talk to the Sharks. He is he winger who ran back the 60 meter return to start the 2nd half in the Semi finals last year between the Bulls and Sharks.

As for Lenny Lux, he got hurt the week after the Sea Isle games. It is a shame because he was one of the top 5 try scores at the time.

Ben Mills you might no or not. However Ben is an up-n-coming player.

Grumbsey also says;

This is what I am talking about with you Tomahawk, you shoot your mouth off without any substaintiated evidence to back your statements up.

I think I bring up mny valid agruments, and topics. Also other people think I bring up valid topics also. You need to start looking outside the box.

Also I have a question you can answer ok. Since I don't know what I am talking about.

In my opion Mike Edwards is one of the best players in the AMNRL, one of the most dedicade players in the AMNRL, and one of the most in shape players in the AMNRL. Why was he not picked for thisAustralian tour? Also, why has he not been picked on other Tomahawk teams? Answer those questions for me grumbsey.

So you might think I don't know diddly. You are entitled to think however you want. However,I do make you think, and thats what I want!!!!!
