Is it just me or was Fien worth peservering with after his WC form, seriously looked great guns and if he didnt know he was destined for the bench or worse may have taken the confidence to develope into a half.
Now you guys are f**ked cause the only way he was effective was when he came off the bench for limited minutes...... Now do you's have any other halfback options?
Nathan Fien started at halfback in 2 matches in 2009. The Warriors won both.
That said, Fien, Witt, Rovelli... they're all examples of the Warriors woes in the halves. None of them were decisive or dominant. Fien's a hard one to judge because he had a magic three week stint at the World Cup, where he stepped back and just pulled the strings a bit and did it very well, but even in the 2 matches we won this year his kicking was usually straight down the fullbacks gob and not doing anything of note. Fien at the World Cup was toying with fullbacks, and his purpose with his kicking gave our defensive line a great chance to sack our opponents in their corner. My big hope for the year was for him to carry on doing that.
What I don't get probably more than anything is that we could all see it... at the end of 2003, Stace was hammered. He's had to change his game a lot, from being an instinctive direct player to being a schemer and organiser, and I don't think his suits his skill set. He's had to do it because in 2003 he got buggered with an injury. Still, 6 years on the club can't see that he's past his prime. Ouch.
