The future home grounds ahead in my opinion. The NEW below are confirmed stadiums.

NEW Sydney Alliance Roosters and Souths
NEW Parramatta stadium Parra
NEW Sydney Olympic prk Dogs & West tigers
TBA NEW Penrith stadium
TBA ? Dragons Barton Park new stadium shared with A LEAGUE soccer franise .

Manly to go broke. Here's hoping.

and the thorn to us all. Gummie sharks stadium ? A real dilemma here with its locality to St George and Illawarra.

Selfishly it’s great Sydney is getting these new venues but I am sure the money could have been spent elsewhere - hospitals, schools, aged care, mental health, gambling to name a few.

Your damn right it could had been ! Successive N.S.W. governments for quite some time now , have been closing the country rail lines . So the traveller is forced to use the bus services to take one to the main terminus , which adds hours on to the trip .

I realise that this doesn't mean too much to the average city dweller , however each time an election is called , all we hear about are the new stadiums that shall be built - gives me a migraine . If they are so damn well keen to build these bluudy things , then build one out in the country and reopen the rail lines with it .

There is 0% chance of a new stadium at Barton Park.

I don't think they are. Sydney clubs are hurting now because tribalism is slowly being bred out of the game. The biggest issue with suburban grounds is they aren't up to standard and the infrastructure around them are terrible. The game needs to do more for its fans but sadly the NRL and the clubs don't have the vision to do that. It's easier for them to take the TV money and sit on their hands.
Bit of pain before the gain. AFL did it too. We are not in England.

I like Allianz it’s just that access is rubbish. The light rail should help though.
Value for money (including the time and cost of travel) needs to be thought about in the future in the scheduling of matches. When I was a kid growing up in St George's halcyon days in the 60s, it made the trip to Kogarah and the match of the day at the SCG worthwhile knowing there were three games (3rd, reserve grade and first grade to watch). This evolved over time to U23, reserve grade and first grade.

Now, with the demise of the U20 competition, more often than not there will be only one game on offer. The only way I would go to ANZ to watch the dragons in a vast 75,000 seat stadium for non finals football would be if there was a double header on show.

I reckon you’re right on the money. They were good days when you got to watch all the grades and see the up & comers.

It is such a bad look that after only 20 years, we are demolishing and rebuilding ANZ. Goes to show the short sightedness of building it in the first place.

Allianz needs at the minimum a major upgrade. Happy though to see it rebuilt.

Small suburban stadiums are great BUT they simply can't get the corporate support needed. We all love a full Kogarah but 20k in Kogarah is not the same as 20k at ANZ or Allianz for $$$$$.

I want to keep games at the suburban grounds and we will.

When these stadiums are rebuilt it would be a good idea to start taking another blockbuster to Allianz.

We can play 4 games at Kogarah, 5 at WIN, 2 at Allianz and 1 in Mudgee.

I like the idea of moving 1 game away to Mudgee or elsewhere in Ausrtalia to build the brand and grow the game.

Looks like they're already laying the ground work to move games away, once the stadiums are finished. I'm happy to give up the Anzac game and the SCG v Rabbits but that's it.

Hate watching club games at ANZ & SCG - you're too far from the action and the atmosphere is dull at best. Allianz is better, but I think WIN stadium is the best stadium for watching club games. You're on top of the action and its hard to find a bad seat as is the same with Kogarah.

Dragons welcome Sydney stadia investment

The Dragons have welcomed today's announcement by the New South Wales Government regarding their significant investment in securing world class facilities for NRL fans under a new stadium program.

The program will see new stadia built at Sydney Olympic Park and Moore Park as well as the new Western Sydney stadium at Parramatta which is currently under construction.

"This is a great outcome for Dragons members and fans, and for the game of rugby league in this state," Dragons Chief Executive Officer Peter Doust said.

"Once the construction program is complete our members and partners will have access to a network of world class stadia and facilities in the form of purpose-built rectangular venues that will bring Dragons supporters closer to the action than ever before.

The decision by the NSW Government in regards to Sydney stadia will have no impact on the Dragons' 2018 home game schedule.

"Our Anzac Day home game to be played at Allianz Stadium in April will not be impacted ahead of the venue redevelopment works commencing at the end of the season," Doust confirmed.

"We will then work with the NRL, the SCG Trust and the Roosters on the most appropriate venue to host the Anzac Day games for the period while Allianz Stadium is being rebuilt.

The NSW Government's decision also reaffirms the Dragons' decision to play an additional home game at traditional venues WIN Stadium and Jubilee Oval in 2018, and supports the club's partnership with Mudgee for the next two seasons.

"Now that we have certainty on timelines for stadia redevelopment we can move forward and consider the best venue model for the Dragons in 2019 and beyond," Doust said.

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg said the NRL would now commit to keeping the Telstra Premiership grand final in Sydney for the next 25 years – although one grand final is likely to be staged at the Sydney Cricket Ground while ANZ and Allianz Stadiums are under construction.

The NRL has also signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the NSW Government pledging to keep the grand final in Sydney as long as the timeline for construction of the new stadia is met.

Agree, thats why AFL does well with crowds, its a long match, almost 3 hours worth, 20twenty cricket worked that out too with aprox 3 hours worth of entertainment, even soccer is 90 mins minimum with stoppage time and half time 100mins plus. NRL for most of us it takes longer to drive to the stadium, find parking, walk to stadium and leave than it takes to watch a match...i agree needs to become 3 hours of entertainment minimum, Friday night footbal obviously its a bit difficult if it goes too late for families, but Sunday afternoon, get there 12 stay till 5 watch few matches, makes it a good day out and worth it. Rugby league is too short to watch, make the teams bigger, play 45 mins per half minimum...maybe make it four quarters again, either way make it worth while.

Build the game by taking it to the bush you say then why did they just axe city v country?
SOO has f**ked the game IMO as everything else that happens in the domestic season is only there to ensure SOO gets played.

Bayside Council will be starting the $31m upgrade of Barton Park Precinct.

The St George Football Club Chairman, and his Board of Directors, are extremely delighted to share with the public and our St George FC community, that the Bayside Council Local Planning Panel, exercising the functions of the Council as the consent authority, APPROVES development application DA-2021/431 for the construction of a grandstand including amenities and associated works within the Barton Park Precinct

$31M for that area only gives you wetlands regeneration, enhanced cycleways and some basic sporting facilities. Any proposed stadium would be very small. The area is hampered by the east-west flight path and the 2056 transport corridor. The Kogarah golf course is optioned for commercial redevelopment so the focus will be on the rest of Barton park to remain green and available for public use.

Kogarah is ideally located for a world-class stadium with its close proximity to domestic and international airports, potential fast rail to the city, and the Princess Highway.

In my opinion, if our Club pulled its figure out and began recruiting top players to WIN a competition or at least be a regular top 4 contender, we could fill a large stadium given our huge fan national and international fan base.

How about a re-development that included fast rail to the city, the Gong, and to the airports. Include a fast bus lane on the highway.

Give it a design similar to Suncorp in Brisbane but include a retractable roof for all-weather use.

Restructure our Club to have St George as our first-grade side, Illawarra as our NSW Cup side (reserve grade and both St George and Illawarra junior sides feeding into our NSW Cup side.

Home games for St George would be at the new stadium and home games for juniors and NSW Cup will be at Wollongong.

Vote for Possm as NSW Premier and it will happen!
