Staff and Players Not Payed

I asked the other day whether off field stuff is impacting on the team. I think it would have to be.

Tinkle do the right thing and walk away.

The NRL said it would take whatever action is necessary to protect the players and staff of the Newcastle Knights whose wages had not been paid today.

The NRL learned today that Newcastle Knights, controlled by Nathan Tinkler's business group, had failed to pay the salaries of at least 20 staff and players.

"The NRL will take whatever action is necessary to protect the Knights, the game and, most importantly, the players and staff as a result of these actions," NRL CEO, Mr Dave Smith, said.

NRL Head of Club Services, Mr Tony Crawford, said: "The actions of the Tinkler-controlled Knights towards players and staff are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

"The NRL has demanded that the situation is rectified immediately because there is no place in our game for this kind of behaviour.

"The NRL will be assessing all options to bring this to a resolution in the interests of the Knights, staff, our fans and the broader Rugby League community."

The NRL said it would not speculate on what those options might include.

I think we all knew this was going on when we heard the rumours with Boyd down 200k.

No wonder we can't sign anyone lol.

Kinda puts new meaning on Mullo and BJ re-signing. They must really love the club.

We really need to f**k Tinkler off already so we can just focus on footy. Sure we weren't in good shape without him but at least people got paid.

I'm reading that the NRL is telling Tinkler to walk away. He had his chance and during negotiations still couldn't pull through. The fact that the knights members club chairman and Tinkler are currently being talked about at ICAC reveals the level of complexity in these relationships.

Tinkler is a grub.

There should be more due diligence on potential owners by the NRL.

Due diligence at the time would have shown he was a billionaire. I don't think any due diligence would have predicted the arse falling out of the coal price. Granted Tinkler bought a lot of stupid things but if the coal price was at 2010 levels we wouldn't even have this thread.

I'm so f**king sick of Tinkler. Apart from his initial takeover, the man has been nothing but bad headlines and has failed to support the club like he said he would. Now, he buys a new coal mine and shafts us. Time is up fat man, time to move on.

The lack of professionalism at this club is appalling. We're a bunch of old boys standing on shaky legs and incidents like this will only cripple us more and eventually, we'll fall over. If we saw 2012 as a rebuilding year, the club needs to undergo something even greater this year or next.

We are absolutely no hope of signing anyone of note. Why would any player in their right mind want to come to the knights. Not only is it extremely difficult to draw players out of Sydney, but now we are a club who doesn't pay up.

Pfft, things suck but we'll never fall over. We have a history of incompetence but our club is one of the toughest in any code in terms of what it's survived. Our club is certainly bigger than Tinkler (hard to imagine I know).

We need to f**k him off fast though so we can start to recover and move forward. I do think he's always meant well by the club but the constant circus surrounding him is too much. It's killing us on and off the field. This is going to take us a long time to fix so we'd might as well rip the bandaid so we can start now while this year is a write off.

Yep. Time for Tinkler to walk away. I am pretty down as I am sure many of you are. We were promised plenty and he delivered little. Bennett was all well and good but the facts are Wayne has operated at a safety first level knowing full well Tinkler is in trouble. Exactly why he hasn't bothered competing with big offers. no point really. Apart from the speculation I am hoping the rumours about our debt are wide of the mark. It could be bad this.

So if we are to start from scratch yet again anyone have any ideas as to what we should do? Anyone keen to start a thread on this subject. I won't cos I will just spit venom at the moment aimed in HSGs direction and I don' t want to bring anyone else down.

My only suggestion is we employ a head kicking don't f### with me CEO. Someone who will put the club first and not be a muppet spokesperson for his employer. There are some great businessmen out there who could be willing. We need to find that person. The rest will take care of itself.
